  2. It’s Cat 3 plus You must carry a life raft (dinghy on deck is NOT acceptable) 33% of your crew must have a current advanced sea survival certificate. Sat phones I think are recommended but not mandatory The catagory classification is usually determined by a conversation between the organising committee, YNZ and maybe the solas(?) committee. There are broad guidelines but you can make tweaks like this race and the coastal have done.

The lighter 35-45 footers that sit in Div 2 and 1b are very active at the moment, and div 5 has some of the classes in it like the 88's 930's and 1020's which all enjoy racing each other. Div 3 and 4 is a tricky area though as it used to be the domain of the heavier slower keelers, but there aren't too many of those racing these days.   6. The division splits 1a to 5 are phrf based. These were set in the NOR before any entries were redirected so it says more about where the active race fleets are at the moment. 8 no extras I think is a bit of an anomaly , as it has likely lost a few boats to the cruising rally, which in its self arms to be growing well.

  12. It was all part of the AC36 resource consent. Admittedly that was one of the fastest consent application processes but was certainly widely consulted and communicated.

    22V Hilti - we just don't bother buying anything else for cordless tools on site anymore. They take a ridiculous amount of abuse and keep on going.

  18. A word of caution around qualitative risk scoring systems, like the probability consequence model above. Watch for the high consequence/low probability events as under some scoring systems they are not given much weight due to the low probability. If it does happen, its a catastrophe so its worth giving them due regard. I might be telling people here to suck eggs, apologies if I am but it bears repeating.
