  2. ok .... was just chatting the other day about how wet  this boat was   offshore   and how hard you had to work  in order to go so slow by today's standards ... ( but 10.5 knots  did seem quite fast at the time )  but i have very good teenage memories of racing this boat ,   just curious   as to where it ended up ? ... no  i don't want to buy it   :wtf:   just wondering

  3. Would a foreign flagged boat need cat one to enter the cruising division?

Could you please tell me the drugs that you are on as they could possibaly enhance my mental stability so I could be on the same plane that you are on , "careless intent " cat one racing under the "Royal  Yatch club of Russia" ????  come on tell us /me, trust me  I used to be a realestate   agent

  4. Talked about it with the management and decided we are cruisers not racers. Will keep a watching brief to see if they do anything to accommodate a cruising fleet

You looked very gracefull as you sailed around Nine Pin Last week ........... sometimes I just hate  working out there............

  5. A cruising fleet doing it in legs? A stop halfway would be nice.

Done ........... we will anchor a barge half way stocked with cold beer  and various delights ............ next request

  6. yes that is really impressive ..... if I had a couple or even one of those wins under my belt  you would never hear the end of it  ( after a couple of rums  mind you ) we need this talent to stay so they will impart their knowledge onto the younger up and coming talent , most farmers tie the young pup up to the old working dog for a while ...

  7. you may want to shoot them but they are not to blame. They did a excellent job considering the brief from management and the direction from management up until the second boats launching

Sorry you have made another incorrect assumption  ,  if we had won the cup , they would have ALL got the credit , their job sheets would have had  winner of AC 2014 , Ra Ra I won the cup right down to the toilet cleaner , and no .. i do not want to shoot them  they all played an important part in the Cup but this ranting on about one team member out of how many ? ....... my question to you is ...... how much is Team Oracle paying you to be on this site  :wtf:

  8. I was sure in the TV footage I saw more than just Dean on the boat, I wonder who they were and what they did, their added weight must have slowed the boat down.

A quick Google shows that Barker didn't lose, and neither did Spitall win, Team NZ lost, and Oracle won.  Both teams made up of a number of people, both sailing and non sailing.

I have no idea how many people are in Team NZ but I'd guess there are a few.  I have no idea what their contracts say but I am sure that the aim of each job in the team would be to assist Team NZ win the cup.

So, if we use the logic used elsewhere, then none of the team met their objectives so they should all go, some of them have been around even longer than Barker, they must be really bad for the team.  We could replace them with a totally green set of rock star individuals that will certainly win it for us.

Well said   .......... I think DB must have  turned down  or not selected one of his anti's once years ago in a crew selection .......... time to let it go and move on , yer lets  shoot the designers . builders . crew . sail-makers.  opps I'm putting ideas into his head

  9. My daughter just made the comment that it is hardly fair to blame DB for TNZ losing when the other boat was 3-5 kn  faster - it wouldn't have mattered who was driving.

I would say that your daughter is a lot smarter than some or one of the anti anti Barker regiment  .....

  10. I'm wondering why we expect boats to hold their value. Nothing else really does (excluding land) or collectibles. I work on the basis that everything has a half life. Depreciation is part of the cost ownership. Regular maintenance and upgrading may mean that your boat is easier to sell and may attract a premium however it unlikely that the premium will match the actual cost of the upgrades. A boat that is thirty years old with the original mast, sails that are 10 years old and an engine that was replaced in 2002 has depreciated. Boat ownership, to me, is about having fun and minimizing my loss. I'm sure that racing horses and many other past-times can cost a lot more.

correct........... there is a cost to every thing ........ even land can cost you coin if you buy on a high and the market moves ... also no one can talk the market down........... the market is the market........ supply and demand..... if you have a good product people want it........ if you have a bucket of shyte you pay the price for your lack of up keep... ever way boating is an extremely great way to spend money with out expecting any return except getting those special moments in life that are priceless ............. if you can afford it :shifty:
