  1. The Tohatsu 9.8 is a kg lighter than the Yam and goes well on an 8.5
  2. What division are you guys in on Saturday?
  3. Phew ... I got mixed up and thought that Westhaven were trying to do this.. fortunately Kevin L is a sensible chap.
  4. Wow .. they print one thing and say another, that's just not on.
  5. Just checked the Westhaven website - http://www.westhaven.co.nz/westhaven/using-the-marina/electrical-connections/ Looks like things have not changed and we don;t need an EWOF for the boat when the boat has no electrics: http://www.westhaven.co.nz/getmedia/b51f3cee-0990-4d36-b257-44ccd438161c/Extra-information-about-EWOFs.pdf/ Having seen a boat burn due to a faulty dehummer I would rather have an RCD and not lose my boat.
  6. No way ... they can't change the rules yet again!

    Borderline

Borderline - Great boat, well sailed and wide at 6.2 and Kev must have been eating too many pies so all that extra weight ... Truth is though I don't know why the Carbon rig came down as it was a really good rig. I think it's fair to say that the first 2 ali rigs were not up to taking the load. VF have to be careful not to have too many people to windward for the same reason as the loads get huge with all that righting moment.
  8. Yea I heard that it ran at a big loss - I could be very wrong and I don't actually remember who mentioned it so it may all just be rumour. hope it's not the case as it was really good fun.
  9. Thanks guys, I have some from the Nats but it's not great - forgot to turn it on sometimes! Adrian, yea let me have your footage and I can put something together.
  10. Last Friday of the month Rum Racing and maybe a few more Auckland Regatta - if it is on next year!? Maybe's Round Waiheke? SSANZ will pick and choose based on weather

    Borderline

Borderline had a really wide beam which made her a mast eater. JT does do a really good deal on an Ali rig for under 5k I think. Don't think Andy wanted to go that route though.
  12. Awesome time sailing Dirty Deeds around Auckland. Short clip of some of the adventures.
  13. Not sure what our plans are yet, would be good to get together though.
  14. I'll say, I was put off by the crap I got for daring to post the news that NZMYC were going to run a Barrier Race. Turned out to be a great race with a nice sheltered harbour to stay overnight in.
  15. Good plan, do it early and NZMYC can get behind it.
  16. After struggling with pushing Deeds along in strong winds I changed to the smaller of the 2 High Thrust props available for the 8hp Yam. I can now motor in 30 knots which is really nice.
  17. Didn't BoBo find the boon on barrier somewhere?
  18. I think you'll find that you are allowed to use autopilot ... the current Two Handed Division can. 7.5 Two Handed Division A yacht sailed by two people. In the division, the use of self-steering devices whether mechanical, electrical or otherwise is permitted.
  19. I think Tim hit the nail on the head with the old Ford Sierra analogy. The designs are now just outdated and the new plastic fantastics are built like crap and will probably fall apart in 10 years but the designs are A1.
  20. Kevin, the Westhaven marina manager cleared this all up at the Forum a few weeks back. From what I recall Westhaven been advised on the law and how it applies. The current push is an application of current law. Pun intended! We can either unplug, abide by the law or lobby to get the law changed. Seems fair enough to me.
  21. I agree ... who is selling them for $150?
  22. Easy, pop the car in the unrestricted parking area on the western side.
