    Shaw 10.5

The wings remind me of Alcatraz -though she was rather heavier.

  3. NZ Team fourth overall , good effort in borrowed boats and the quality of the opposition

  5. Pity about the inconvenient timing
  6. Ah the safer boating forum .... nameless people based in Wellington ?
  7. Water Safety NZ , they were making good progress with education and such programmes -then the govt reduced funding and here we are
  8. This has been the case in the Waikato for some time, I have stood up in my wooden dinghy and paddle with one oar -therefore a traditional SUP.
  9. Strainer between inlet and raw water pump and change the impeller every year or so seems to work.

Hopefully with lack of detail and challengers currently, a deed of gift challenge will materialize to inject some interest back and get some real sailing underway soon, TP52's anyone?
  11. We know who to visit for a cold one now!

Great to see this event back on the calendar, and with two competitive boats sailing under Squadron flag with Kiwis in the crew -channel race starts Saturday.

Not a lot of secrets after the last one, Burling has not been involved in the design details going forward , and with a lot less crew needed for the next one -its all new , will anyone be ready for 2027? To understand professional sport take a look at F1, the English did not hurl abuse at Mansell when he went to Ferrari -they celebrated his achievements, unlike here, where the loyal campaign was started by people with no idea of yachting and a liking for the bottle.

Team Dalton had kept the wages low using the nationality rule for quite a while so it was bound to happen, bit like NZ really!
  17. For interest Titus Canby is racing in the classics during the squadron winter series this year too , and some of the crew are classics as well!
  18. Well done, the Fantzipants was in some ways a purer design than the 727 and nice to sail, I recall watching the original racing in our quarter ton series in 72 (maybe the first regatta for the class) and there is another up the Tamaki called Sir Duke that a young guy is sailing around and looking after very well.
  19. New Zealands best performers last time not going though, its a big commitment

It seems that Paul Lewis from the Herald is writing whatever Dalton tells him to, not really reflecting the true position of the challengers in this tightened market for sponsor dollars worldwide.
  21. Dont know any retailers who would want to be there, perhaps a large charter operator, and a cafe ...
  22. Some looks like one of the old Altex (tauranga) epoxy undercoats, dont think it is Coppercoat. Prob to cover earlier osmosis jobs.
  23. The big difference to me is that I have seen two Lithium batt fires on boats (in NZ) and the results of one other, however never seen anything from FLA batteries in all the years I have been on the water..... And they are too dear for me
  24. Oh simple me, I go sailing to relax, enjoy the environment and not worry, so that ruled out Lithium batts of any type (and the cost) have I suffered-not a whit.
  25. Is this from the pumping station by Robertsons yard?
