  1. Very true and not the obvious target for a thief.
  2. Thanks for putting that up I must find my copy of the book.
  3. Be Aware that the prevailing breeze at the entrance has a big bearing on Milford, half tide is not right as the sill moves depending on height not time. Quite often the sill will still be up then. If you damage the sill the Mariners will send you the bill. Please go for a good walk with the kids at dead low one day and you will be then armed with the knowledge.
  4. She really flew down wind on the weekend as the small number of others out there in the commodores cup saw.
  5. Emergency moorings or limit markers for sailing?

    Deck paint

You can prep and fill with epoxy as normal, but dont expect much out of a water based paint on a boat, I have never seen one last. Whats wrong with any of the quality single pots available from the big manufacturers ? Yes they are alkyd oil based - but give good results now.

    Diesel consumption

6 litres sounds high, if I ask all of our 29hp Diesel we are burning 5 litres an hour but backed of to say 2900 RPM its more like 3.4 (new Yanmar)
  8. Her workmates at the Mahu tech teaching sea survival are unlikely to let her forget this one! Strange the delay in reporting her missing from the skipper of the boat.
  9. Surely the two stand out performances this year were Motorboat 11 and Apache (beating the much newer carbon cats and tri) and of course the new record from the Beau Geste team. Shame there wasnt a video made from North Head as the usual pundits had a great year with wipeouts people overboard etc all playing out straight below....
  10. They left the start looking the business and havent buttoned off, all we need now is some modern IMOCA types this wind angle would have had them smoking till the Brett
  11. Considering Vodafone started earlier on her record year I would say Beau Geste has easily got it.
  12. Beau Geste broken the record? about 5 hours exactly
  13. V5 at 32 knots on one sector! Mayhem led the race boats out of the harbour at pace, that Beau Geste certainly is a weapon
  14. She is very nice, and Priscilla I have seen many worse apartment interiors
  15. Wouldnt it be great to see a fly by from ETNZ as they did about three years ago before the start? Perhaps a little early in the learning to control cycle....
  16. Yes forecast looking good, starting to think I should have gone this year. Still to much work needed on other boats.
  17. The engine went out of production about 15 years ago, but there are genuine head gaskets available ex Auckland -I checked
  18. You could try the Yanmar dealers there are lots of them......
  19. We have the coastal records Auckland -Russell But what are the current Auckland to Kawau, Auckland to Te Kouma ? best times ? Anyone.....
  20. We were informed at the prizegiving that a number would be protested by the committee, and the boats were out there in the dark pointing to the offenders the error of their ways, but hey ho nothing occurred so that sends a different message to all of us I guess!
  21. great shots thank you

    Luna Rossa

They have more wetted surface in their shape than ours, with a similar approach to the problems.
  23. Bens Black pudding, we will have to wait for April to get real comparisons
  24. Whatever happened to that reptile that was always threatening to enter races?
