  1. I well remember that old devil who built her-and his boats dont fall apart. Hope he is still doing well in Aussie. The owner of this one certainly has done some miles.

  3. Bad Kitty anchors in the bay to the South of there often, and saved my boat as it made its own way out a month or two back (chain around anchor as KM says it happens)
  4. Well I find myself agreeing with Priscilla, and further to this I see the Vos shed that we were all hoping would be available for the classic boats along with John Streets long term plan has now been repurposed as Sealinks new base - all for the AC . It will be great to watch but at what cost to the sailing Aucklander, with the only return going to the team and corporates, where is that red flag comrades -Freedom for Westhaven.
  5. Yes there was a disturbing blue flashing riding light on prominent display last weekend at man o war bay , possibly the same fellow who had just been given a new horn to play with
  6. Hey Priscilla she has got a look (the yacht) is she a Bill Garden design?
  7. Yes with travel lift rates and the floating dock prices rising I dare say many more of us will resort to careening, as people used to at Okahu bay and issy bay.
  8. There is more parking coming up that end -once entrance is closed, Panuku has put up rates because it can , just another cost driving boaties out of Auckland. They need to raise more funds to complete the developments proposed five years ago -the piles, the walkway etc. I am annoyed that with the increase letter it tells me that I am getting better service- less parking currently still the water main is not finished- where is this service -yes we have twice the number of operatives in the office since the days of Flap then the Navy man but really what else has improved?
  9. No bargains yet, a voluntary liquidation brought on by one of the partners desiring to realise some capital out of the business so should honour vouchers. Yes Panuku are to blame for the increasing costs of Westhaven, and no any experienced chandler will not sign up to the new development - been pushed for five years as there is no parking not enough floor area and even with the offered rent holidays is not exposed to a lot of passing trade!
  10. This side of Beaumont street is Marine only, so Panuku are getting round that by renting us all out, this is only the first to go, look for travel agents accountants stock brokers etc to move in.
  11. Interesting place to transfer sand ..... right on top of Iris shoal ! we are not talking a big area after all, and it would have been a good deal calmer round by South Cove.
  12. I rest my case the fever has set in- another skipper old enough to know better.
  13. The fever is building, yachts are on the hard with 1200g paper being bandied about, dehumidifiers cranked up, serious tactical breifings undertaken at Swashies and even L class crews in deep discussion at the squadron bar. The most critical thing though is who will run the book with my old mate N C Collins gone over the bar to the most peaceful anchorage last year?
  14. They are not pretty and i dare say the Figaro is a lot quicker but I have seen them advertised for 92000 Euro and lets face it you can get around the "Auckland" cost of yachting by hauling it out. Hopefully they are quicker than an 88 though i doubt it on the wind, as the current First 30 proved to be a big disappointment when built with basic production methods.
  15. The great thing about importing/ selling dodgy lifejackets, no complaints or warranty calls......... (not Hutchwilco)
  16. Yes far rather have a tiller myself, and save the weight.
  17. The Herald chart ex Ocean fun is more reliable and accurate as to peak tides than the met services offerings over the last ten years. Bearing in mind local differences from atmos pressure and onshore offshore winds.
  18. Well now that world sailing has committed to this class as the his and hers keelboat/trailer sailor who has ordered one fom NZ? I see that they have already discarded the electric saildrive as not suitable for other than European Lakes and reverted to a conventional Yanmar saildrive.
  19. Always use silicon bronze screws from the US or Great Britain to fix on your Brass rubbing strip , as brass screws are for indoor household use and have the strength of cheese.
  20. The launch hull is still in Tauranga if its the one Pachoud tried to build
  21. Sat in Auckland getting more and more derelict over 10 years I believe its one of the ill fated Ocean 80's
  22. Great thread, should this be under classics?
