The tracker on the RAYC site appeared to be turned off before all the small ones had finished ? Rather disappointing...
  2. Actually Native -the boats are raced but we are not mad scrubbers so the bottom is completely clean and stays that way.
  3. Just had to redo after three years in Westhaven on two coats of No 5 , and yes we are fussy, also got five years in Milford with the same Altex no 5
  4. 50mm Carbon tow as sold by Adhesive technologies is the most cost effective way to achieve what you desire.
  5. There have been a number of 88's go recently for around 20 -that is good yachting for the dollar and why they are finding thier way out of Westhaven to places like Milford Panmure Pine harbour Waiheke
  6. There is a hartley abandoned next to the road at Milford, free to a good home if only someone would take her away.
  7. Perhaps this needs repetition: Both the Blue water seal and the PSS seal should be fed from downstream of the raw water pump before it enters the engine if too much pressure use a small inline thumb valve to limit the flow. Anything else is your own call and demonstrably outside what the designers and manufacturers say. For both on a yacht engine at 1000 RPM should fill a coffee mug in a minute- not big volume and not high pressure. I have tested these for many hours and on faster launches and modern yachts you can easily evacuate the stern tube . There is sound engineering and years of tes
  8. I have never understood the long blind attachment that they had to the Finn, Scandinavian lobbying ? Though NZ has had a good measure of success with them.
  9. With the piles redevelopment and other recent changes at Westhaven creating 34 less berths (but higher value ones) we can all see who is being targetted.
  10. Err I should have made that clear the PSS or Blue Water Seal has to be on the downstream side of your seawater pump not before it, and only 5/16" or 8mm taken before the water goes into the engine ie cold water. Yes Vesconite bearings typically for a 1" shaft four water grooves (not on the bottom) and larger bearings six or eight grooves.
  11. His history is full of just pushed it a bit too far moments
  12. The tail on the PSS is for a water feed, not just an air breather, just dont pressurise it too much it needs the water to stay cool and lubricated, this has the added benefit of a positive flow down the stern tube.
  13. Quite a few of us attended, hopefully get a video of it to Murray who is overseas, Steve Trevurza attended all the way from Aussie, and the whole thing is a credit to Dave for pulling it together and finishing her to such a high and original standard.
  14. Telling them to watch out for the start bouy

    Yanmar

Yanmar has been supplying industrial engines to Isuzu John Deere and all the little digger manufacturers that you pass on the side of the road for many years, these are different engines to your YS series, GM's, JH's Lh's and LY marine Yanmars.

    Yanmar

Except that SD20 and 25 dont have cone clutches...In fact no current Yanmar saildrives do.
  17. Met him many times, probably gone down to Portugal about now, where he and like minds winter over for free, an inspiring character and the Wylo 11's really have covered the miles in both sizes and different keel /centreboard configurations. There are Wylos in Whitianga , Coromandel, KeriKeri, Whangarei and most interesting cruising grounds worldwide, he has aged somewhat since last I caught up with him, but that is happening to all of us...
  18. If you have a Y88 it will be an 1" shaft and usually 1 1/4" OD cutless bearing (the most common size) available at most good chandlers or BLA on the shore or Lusty and Blundell. Unless its the one with the Honda civic engine -that may have a bigger shaft !
  19. Club Marine pushed another insurance sponsor out of the squadron recently -then promptly cancelled the MRX insurance blaming losses offshore! Weird behaviour -shop around people.
  20. Tis true as I have discovered with the humble lug rig, mix it with modern materials and you have easy efficiency with amazing lift. But the old Cornish fishermen knew that hundreds of years ago -and some who were only pretending to be fishing!
  21. SS shaft, Bronze prop, copper stern tube, ally or iron in engine/gearbox, Bronze or gunmetal gland -there is already quite a mix. A bronze gland in kauri will not react at all without outside influences. You are right easiest way to put it to bed-next year put an epoxy stern tube in with a shaft seal as you have -prop speed the prop and you will see a big reduction in potential.
  22. Hopefully the two KSD's can rip up into the bay holding thier lead as this year they started on time and deserve to place.
  23. Will the Sail GP first boat be ready to come out of Marsden Point for a flypast?
  24. Any idea of the entry numbers this year?
