They are largely funded by Olympic money, but forget all of us multi yacht club members who keep them going year by year, good example: when many moorings were proposed for Rakino amongst other spots AYBA went into legal battle for us the cruising boaties , YNZ did not murmur. With Cat 1 tipped out will three four and five follow or are we to self police within the clubs? Interestingly a number of the races that I enjoy each year are now run under Colregs with no luffing rules etc and we all enjoy them.

Not a bad idea Jon however I see funding as an issue straight away, and we havent got the numbers US has with their current fighting.

It does sound as if the install is fairly low in the boat compared with static waterline , in which case the anti syphon is a good move. A large waterlock fitted as low as possible after the injection elbow is essential.
-
Be very thankful that you dont have a modern full electronic injection diesel , your problem is messy and time consuming , the alternative is very very spendy.

Plus 1 for killer at Seamtech

I believe that is fairly busy at Smokehouse for the last week, and Onetangi for that matter. Glad I am not desperate to come in from the Barrier, home in four line bay getting boat prepped for Sail GP weekend accom instead.

Its an old S & S 24 with the de Joux cabin, I wonder where his outboards came from......

The Herald has repeated the already proven false claim that they were both hit by booms, as I suggested lets keep this forum accurate .
-
Might pay to wait for the actual facts to come out : ie in the NZ tragedies of recent years the booms did not hit anyone. Mainsheets however and their potential swinging arc are a different matter.

The new SD60 that replaces the 40 and 50 has a clutch pack , it is made by ZF and very similar to the Volvo saildrive but with more plates, Volvo had many issues with this slipping initially which Yanmar benefitted from by being a late adopter. Dont know anything about their new big one (up to 100hp) but its from ZF too. Yes the SD20/25 (same thing -better primer on the 25) are largely trouble free if you change the anodes and oil when required. But personally still a shaft fan.
-
A rubber cutless bearing will transfer less noise and vibration than a hard bearing , having said that it does sound like a prop issue and maybe too soft engine mounts. As the boat moves the shaft maybe leaning on the stern gland, this is where shaft seals on a glass tube have and advantage -moving with the shaft.

Prop balance and shaft straighten? Is it a geared folder?

Harbourmaster warns boaties maust have wreck-removal insurance
waikiore replied to ex Elly's topic in MarineTalk
I was at the North Shore station when most of a Townson 28 turned up, to be fair they had removed lead and toxic materials but they were still refused and told in no uncertain terms to sail on out again. Also saw a Harmonic (probably the plug) being burnt on a boatbuilders farm because no one would take it for free . -

Yet another Piver heading to Davy Jones locker. Almost identical situation 10 years ago when one piled up on the Hen, unfortunately that owner died of a heart attack afterwards. -
Registration Offshore such as the Cook Islands

Always has from some quarters, though most of the Auckland inspectors had the common sense to assess each individual . -

Look forward to hearing how applying for an IVC goes compared to the old Cat one, and has anyone told the insurers I am guessing not? -
EP Barrus in the UK British agents and will ship here quicker than the local people can source , they appear to have run down all local stock holding since 2020

Ring frames are good, though in a glass hull you cant treat them in isolation -ie they need to be connected as well not just to the skin , thats where multi diagonal trad kiwi boatbuilding has some not always recognised benefits. Plus one for Brett Bakewell White

The really naughty thing is our Government working out that it is cheaper to pump a little diesel out and slip the local villages a few hundred thousand than actually salvaging the ship and taking it away which could easily (but expensively) be achieved by the likes of Smit Tak . She is not lying 30m deep as they keep saying.

As with many things time has changed the common practice, with many of the well campaigned NZ keelboats it was a badge of honour to paper the main bulkhead with plaques -but now not so much- apart from some of the ocean races. And I have observed some great displays at owners houses or offices these days -which is probably more fitting.

I have found Navionics good but treat anything around Fiji waters with deep suspicion.

The muddled assessor (not a Boatbuilder ) seems to have slipped one of the photos of Katrina 11 in there as well. Has been a bad year for two early Elliotts with this one and Hysteria being offered up cheap.

What if you dont require power on your berth ? The Drinkrows are now being thought of very favourably by those who have been at Pine Harbour through both regimes , Simon Herbert jetski boy.
