  1. If anybody is looking for multihull crew for the coastal classic please PM me. Looking to hop on a trimaran or catamaran. I own and race a Hobie 16, but also race F18s etc. Have crewed once on an 8.5m cat (didn't flip though), and I was consistent crew for a Corsair trimaran in the US before moving to NZ. If push comes to shove I can just trailer my H16 up there and do the H16 BOI regatta.... but I've done this before so I'm looking for a change. Cheers
  2. Hi all, I'm a Hobie 16 sailor from America. I've noticed since arriving in Auckland that the cat sailors don't tend to race the same regattas as much as they do together in America and in Aussie. Would like to get someone from each fleet (Paper tigers, Weta, A-class, H16, and other beach cat classes) together, with our regatta schedules and discuss. I've already had much interest from the Weta, H16, and A-class guys. Anybody else want to join us? Still looking for a Paper tiger rep, so far their fleet leads have been pretty aloof. If we can get some more regattas and a better community
  3. Anyone sailing F18s anymore?
  4. Hi all, Thinking about purchasing a Hobie 16 from Oz and bringing it to Auckland. I used to race them and would like to get another boat. However, I don't know where I would put it. Anybody have suggestions on a place I could store it? Ideally nearby the water, but I would also consider other options. If someone has a grassy patch in their yard and would like to make some extra small cash ($10/wk?) by letting me store my boat there, I'm all ears. Open to any and all suggestions. Cheers
  5. Oh yeah, number 5 was how long does it take to set the boat up from being on the trailer? It was soooo easy to set the H16 up, and I know F18s would take a whole friggin hour (if you knew what you were doing) to set up. I'm not really into the whole taking forever to set up thing.
  6. Hi all, I've been looking for a boat ever since I moved to Auckland about 3 months ago. I am a hobie 16 and F18 sailor. However, catamarans are relatively dead here. I'm addicted to trapping and double handed sailing is my thing. I don't want to go single handed sailing because I like to share my experience with someone else and I like the teamwork aspects. Non-double trapeze boats are out because I just don't want to let one person have all the fun! Anyways, there's a 49er FX on trademe that's peaked my interest. However, I have a few reservations, and would like to reach out to anyb
  7. Kia Ora! I'm moving to Auckland from America in Feb. 2017 to work at a Civil Engineering firm in the CBD. I'm 23 years young and strong. I currently own and race a Hobie 16, but have crewed on F18s and love to trapeze. Anybody out there able to help me get involved in the multihull scene after I move? Anybody looking for consistent crew? I love all multihulls, but prefer beach cats with trapezes (sorry, no paper tigers). Although, most of my experience has been on catamarans. I would also be interested in other boats with trapezes like the 18ft skiffs, 49er (although
