  1. Charts for the area should gve the official clearance, but I will look it up as well. Not something you want to hit with an ali mast, especially me - how would I explain that on monday morning...?

Guess you're allowed an opinion. My opinion of you has gone downhill in a big way....

    Based on what?
  4. Perhaps a bit of an unusual one. This weekend we began to ressemble a Tower for destruction test, after minor failure in early tests. I'm in a testing station in the desert, outside of Riyadh.

Not sure what your point is (other than trying to sound like a know it all). Top speeds are fun, and no one said "we sailed around the track at 30 knots" On Voom we finished over an hour behind you, but from our GPS track, we averaged 11knots over the ground, you would have had to average a fair bit more than that. Our top speed on the GPS was 21.5 under kite, 19.8 when 2 sailing with 2 reefs and the storm jib. Of course there is lots of slow times. For us, it was the bottom of every one of those steep waves, or the turning around for 24 minutes to search for and pick up the hatch
  8. Does anyone have any suggestions for good site to order gear from overseas?

I thought the last Ac proved you needed a wing. If you were looking to argue a tri superiority within a rule, look to the ORMA developements whihc were nearly all tris for a reason. Boats designed within a rul all tend to end up similar over time as the best option becomes apparent. You have an open boat - is a tri really the way to go...?

I vote new main hull. Probably cheaper than new rig and sails too...

Massive thread drift I know, but did you know your old 7.4 now lives in windy welly? I saw her at evans bay a few weeks ago. Tim, Timberwolf did look awesome for the few seconds we saw before you were gone...
  15. Saturday: Picked up mainsail with new reef point from Bill, took that and the book out to voom and fitted. Put on wetsuit and cleaned the bottom. Kinda chilly. Tried to fix winch, got grease everywhere, failed to fix winch, took winch off and home. Tried to fit new watertight bulkheads, bolts too short, gave up. Replaced starboard nav light, worked out somewhere to temporarily set up cooker so we can have a hot drink if the simrad 100 is a long slow one Sunday: Fitted bulkheads this time after getting new bolts! Finished ‘proof of concept’ version of temporary shelf for cooker. Mowed la
  16. So instead of working on the mini, you sulked in your room...?

  21. Thanks for the update Rob. Where are you based?
  22. Hey Rob, Hows progress on your big proa? You looked to have hulls sorted when you came to talk to us, and were working on the rig (from memory anyway) ? Are you any closer to launch date? (this is a genuine enquiry, as I am interested in how it will go)
