tuffyluffy got a reaction from armchairadmiral in New Zealand cannabis referendum, Yes or No
I'm not against an adult having a puff at home and a plant in their backyard, but i fear that loosening the control on cannabis and the associated easing availability to young people and will have a serious impact on mental well-being.
I've witnessed first hand a young, bright lad engage in moderate use as a teen and whom now suffers severe psychosis and schizophrenia to the point where his family cant let him know where they live for fear of their lives. One moment he can be and engaging, polite adult, the next moment a knife welding, paranoid menace.
If you're interested in reading about the link between cannabis use in the young and psychosis, here's a good start

"In one recent study that followed nearly 2,000 teenagers as they became young adults, young people who smoked marijuana at least five times were twice as likely to have developed psychosis over the next 10 years as those who didn’t smoke pot."

It is a personal choice for the majority.
Calories in v calories out isn't rocket science. If you chose a calorie heavy, activity light lifestyle, you're going to get fat.

Maybe a bit of salt water shampoo in a bucket then rinse off with fresh water. Use fresh water from your tank. Who's to know it's fresh water?

That worked for me on both one bike and one boat.
But Tuffies boat is bigger than that one, it's my baby one, so he'll have to be a faster scrubber than me

Dude, feeling a bit of a arse for making your comments are you. This attempting to deflect attention away from the fact you do wish harm on fellow humans, even if they are also a bit of an arse, makes you look weak and cowardly.

    The Circle is complete
    Wed Oct 07 2020
At 1610 I crossed my outbound track, surging into Matiatia on a brisk Southwest wind. I rounded up in the lee of the headland, furling the genoa and dropped the main for the last time. After over a month at sea I felt like an albatross folding it wings as it returns to the land from its soaring across the boundless oceans.
I have sailed two and a half thousand miles around New Zealand, through triumphs and disasters, challenges great and small, through happiness and despair. Through every emotion really. The hardest part has been dealing with myself, with the little mind that wants to give up or complain or be lazy or just feel sorry for itself. Out there alone I have passed through my own cold stormy nights but always I seem to manage to come through those into the glowing sunrise of a new day and I feel the better for the experience, cleansed in some way by the wind and the salt spray.
On the dock, as I glide in on the wind, finally engineless simply because I have run out of fuel, are my dear friends and family. They come to help and share in what is for me a very moving moment. Their kindness and care touches me deeply.
All these posts have been painstakingly tapped out, letter by letter with one finger, on the tiny keyboard on my phone, sometimes in very trying situations. It has been, in some way, a conversation I have been having with you. I had no one else to talk to.
So thank you if you read them, and thank you if you helped out by supporting the restoration of the Kate. She’s a fine old ship.
    I am home now.
    The circle is complete.

An I ignorant or trolling? Probably, much like yourself, a bit of both. Its just a matter of perspective.
BTW, migrant children were separated from their parents and kept in cages long before Trump, and if Iran wants to build nuclear missiles then their government should prepare itself and its people for the consequences.

Depending on your political bent, you could argue similar points against Jacinda Ardern for her failings on
Homelessness and the broken promises to provide housing for the vulnerable - up 300% in her term. Increasing in child poverty Growing unemployment etc etc Disdain for farming and business etc etc But to wish her harm via a danger virus or even death is just a step to far and downright uncouth and nasty.

Its all about the greater good KM. Its about reducing the net total suffering. By wishing ill on Trump, I am actually hoping that all the people who are wronged by him will no longer be wronged. As a caring sharing person, I really want all the people of Venezuela, and Iran to be free from Trump's oppression. And all the people in the US who are suffering from his poor decisions.
If Trump were assassinated, the world would be a fare better place.
PS, what on earth are you doing reading the Daily Blog?
PPS, if you want to understand why I'm linking oppression, Iran and Venezuela with Trump, you'll have to read reliable news sources, like maybe Al Jazeera, not the Daily Blog
It's for the greater good KM, the greater good.

Absolutely 100%, it's all in the manner it is done.
What's the difference between Trump expressing glee at someone's plight and someone on Crew doing the same? Nothing, they are all vile nasty sad individuals.
No, I take that back. Those on Crew and other places (suss the Daily Blog for real nasty fuckers, mostly all of how identify as Green voters by the way) hold themselves up as caring sharing people concerned about fellow humans, see the stuck cruisers thread, yet here they are smiling and professing pleasure at the thought a fellow human may suffer what by all reports is a nasty death.

This is a Stupid decision and will effect peoples well being, if not their lives.
It is not realistic to tell the yachties out there to "go home" as voyages and seasons must align for small vessels to have the best chance of safe passage. There is no way to come to NZ safely once a cyclone is present! Most passages from the Islands are min 10 days, most of the quarantine is already done, so the risk is minimal This is a very big loss to the local marine industry Yep the director general may be a good doctor, but he obviously has no understanding of small boat voyaging.

Seems like an exspensive way to use tilt panels. Plenty of companies pour tilt slabs on site. Ward Neale was probably the best I came across in the Auckland area. Can't remember what company name he traded under.
Not to sure about the fibreglass wall ties. All structures of the type you are proposing would need to be specific design by a NZ registered professional engineer, CPENZ or IPENZ registered. If within the Auckland region, council will require the engineer to be on their approved engineers register.
Would it not be better to have a 100mm tilt panel, then frame the inside with 150x45 timber frame which would allow for ample insulation and a still air space to run all the services. You would probably end up with less wall thickness.

tuffyluffy got a reaction from w44vi in CCC application online with council.......
Yup, its online now. Far from slick, but its online.
Don't get too excited tough, whilst you can apply, receiving the certificate is an entirely different matter that involves plenty of $$$.
When you hit the 'submit' button, this triggers a loud haler at counsel that chants "last call for abc consent billing, last call" and then there is a flurry of fingers on keyboards followed by a exceptionally large unexpected invoice in your inbox.
In my case, two days before I applied for CCC, I called to check what was owing on my consent and they told me zero $,  but 2 days after hitting the submit button, a bill for $4.5k appeared - go figure.

They're an inefficient monopoly that would be out of business in a competitive environment, but they're all we've got, sadly

I second this recommendation and you will find this in the cheapest of Pak'n'Save disinfectants as the active ingredient.  I spray my boat, path, deck, roof, etc with it and it works perfectly from a pressure spray mixed 50/50.  Takes a week or so to work.....much longer in summer.

We already did that during the first lockdown and no one turned up, you make it sound like its a problem, they arn't all going to turn up on the same day.
You also make it sound like the predictions are gospel, they haven't been very good so far.
There is very good data on risk profiles, it could be used effectively to manage hospitalisation rates but we don't seem to have the necessary competent bureaucracy to manage it.
So we all take one for the team.
I'm sort of ok with our elimination approach for now but I am not happy about mortgaging my kids futures so everyone can carry on living like nothing happened.
We are blowing rapidly our countries reserve funding ability and the sh*t hasn't really hit the fan yet.
