    Akarana 350

Anarchy racing away at 14kn, but Titanium only 7 knots a bit further North. Very different breezes out there! Stand out races from Titanium and Truxton, although Truxton has been caught now. Looked very strong early on..
  2. Stupid decision. Offshore racing and Olympic sailing are completely different animals. The Finn is a great class for Gorillas. No other class caters for the 90kg plus single handed sailor. It is well developed, world wide with plenty of boats to choose from. It demands smarts, athleticism and strength. Very sad to see it go.
  3. Alex Thompson, what a class act. Given a 24 hr penalty for using his engine to get off the rocks which will drop him multiple places after leading all the way and blitzing the fleet says: “It’s a real shame for me and the team to be in the position that we are in,” said Thomson who has been third and second in consecutive Vendée Globe solo round-the-world races. “The jury has decided that I have a 24-hour penalty which will mean I will not win the race. How do I feel about that? Well I think that is very fair because I don’t think I should win the race after hitting Guadeloupe.” This was g
  4. 53 Class 40 entries!!! Froggie offshore racing has gotta be the best..
  5. Thanks for that! Those big Tris are moving along.. 27 knots with the wind well forward as well.
  6. A big difference with the UK publications is that they will pay good money for good articles, hence contributions by people who really know stuff like Rod Heikel. I wrote a few articles for practical Boat owner when I was living on board in the Med and it was good money!! As Fish says, they also point out things they don't like in boats and publish really gritty stories like the Cheeky Rafiki story and the Big Oyster that lost its keel in the med. Great gear reviews and practical stuff like anchoring.. I read them too and dispair at Boating NZ...
  7. Woody Bay Rakino a few years back.
  8. Was a big tourist alloy power cat. Bit silly.
  9. I flew Air NZ to Aus a few weeks back with Drone in checked baggage. No probs. I'll take the batteries out next time though!!
  10. I dived on Provincial Cowboy in Opua few years back when they were there for Bay week. They had only been in the marina a few days and had plenty of little barnacles on a freshly cleaned bottom. Nasty little beasts.
  11. Bloody hell! What airline KM??
  12. Was that you who came charging through the start/waiting room in the fog KM? I thought the skipper was brave!!
  13. That Chris Darby is a piece of work isn't he? Fingers in every pie..
  14. Nice boat by the looks, but good luck getting that price in today's market. She's a tough one.
  15. Note that the waterproofing on the inside is shot and there is a little mold on the outside. Will clean right off though...
  16. Not by me! No guarantees though
  17. You are first in. If you want it, I will put it aside for you.
  18. Hi all. I have some well used Musto gear (both sets are jacket and pants) to exchange for rum. One set of old Musto Ocean complete with built in harness. Everything works well inc zips but waterproofing on inside of outer liner is shot. Size XL The second set of gear is Musto offshore. Again, built in harness and everything works. Size L. Both jackets require re-waterproofing Bottle of Appletons for both of them! Clear out time.
  19. Probably a Laser John.. Back to my roots! (See if the body can handle it!!) Grand Master now!!
  20. WAS my boat last week... (Sob).. Aerial shots by Lissa photography. Last shot by Suellen.
