  1. You can be a 'marina resident' or live aboard at Mana Marina. Been doing so for over 18 years now, nice community, nice marina, the weather... well it is close to Wellington, but great sailing, close to sounds :)

  2. This is our live aboard. We have been aboard her for 14 years now, initially with 2 teenagers, now just the 2 of us... except during holidays then there are the 2 of us, our daughter, son-in-law and their children. We have sailed around the North Island, up and down the East Coast, to Fiji and too many Cook Strait crossings to count. At 36' she is a great size for 2 of us to manage, but has lots of space for visitors. Also manageable financially to maintain and leave something for the cruising budget.

  3. Hi there,

We have lived aboard permanently for 17 years now. When we first moved aboard we had 2 children & a small dog on a Cavalier 32'. After a bit more than 2 years on that we moved on board our Cavalier 36' which we still own & still live aboard. We have cruised reasonably extensively around NZ and to Fiji on her. As you can imagine she is well set up for both living on and sailing on.

Best thing we ever did was to move out of the house, but it is not for everyone.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to chat about our experiences.
