  2. Well wadaya know, an 8.4 love fest! Well I cleaned the Ants bum. Been 3 years on a tin of Sea Horse I bought online for $75. It's tired now but Im happy with how well it's lasted. Even more happy that I can even use these useless arms at long last. Payin for it today though...
  3. Went to a nieces 7th birthday party. Great kids, lots of fun, well behaved, my ears are still ringing!

KM I reckon loads could be higher mostly due to higher drag due to higher speeds. Drag increases expo...expi... a lot as speed increases
  5. Ooh bugger Dr Dubyah. How did you do that?
  6. A whole bunch of you doin' the wild thing?
  7. I went to the YNZ Commodores Meeting and the SGM on Saturday. Overall a very good day.
  8. It's not really cordless anymore is it?
  9. I doubt hard storage around here will be any cheaper. I could take it out of the water, put it on a truck and stick it on my lawn, but the cost of removing the mast, trucking it all of 3 km to my place from the marina, and then the reverse will cost quite a bit and then if I want to go for a putt, I won't be able to, which currently I can still do on no wind days. I like sitting on the boat in the marina. It's my blokes shed and I'd be screwed without one of those.
  10. Agreed but in any market, people who are in trouble and need the readies quickly inevitably sell for below "market" value. Wether that market is buoyant or depressed. I can wait. I even have kind friends who have offered to sail my boat for me while I am unable to. You see what a great community this is!
  11. And to think you started from plans and are now sailing it - very cool indeed.
  12. Royale your post sounds rational and well considered. But it's because you use words like reasonable and fair. What gets me are the ones who expect a Rolls Royce for the price of a mini. And I agree wholeheartedly that a boat in top condition is worth paying top dollar for. It will in the end cost a whole lot less and will be out on the water more often rather than being repaired. If history repeats itself as it has done over many many decades, boat prices will follow real estate in approximately 12 - 18 months. If I were selling my boat (which I am) I would hang onto it for another y
  13. Of course the obvious conclusion of saying the market is still too expensive is to simply not buy a second hand boat. Vendors won't sell to the people who won't pay a reasonable price (because let's face it, you've said the condition of the boat is irrelevant which really means you want an excellent boat at a bargain basement price) and the people who want to pay bugger all but get a second hand boat in excellent condition will never meet. End result? The second hand market stagnates and dies and no one buys second hand boats, so the price of new boats goes sky high because they're the only
  14. You've lost a lot of hair since I last saw you. In fact you don't look anything like how I remember you. Did you have a new face put on while you were in India?
  15. Gardening. Work would have been better.
  16. Was in Sydney - left my phone in the car deliberately. Home now.
  17. Saturday I had to work but was happy in the knowledge that my PVR was going to record the VOR harbour race. Got home only to find that alghough it was set to the right time and channel, for some reason it had a still shot of the green screen for parliament tv. Talk about pissed off! I checked the settings and it was set for the correct time and channel so don't know what happened there! Today, I mowed the lawns, stopped to watch the VOR re-start then finished the lawns. Great weekend - NOT!
  18. Only 2 boats finished, and Clear Circle (an older design Wright 36) beat Quiet Riot (the newer Wright 11) by around 6 minutes. Nine odd hours. A well deserved bottle of crew.org's finest mt Gay Rum.
  19. Went out to officiate the start of the WBC Sailutions single handed race today. Squid came along to give a hand. No starter horn. Dammit. Never Mind Squid can do a wolf whistle loud enough to be heard for a few miles!
