  1. I helped a mate apply it on his 40 cat all in one day and followed the rules. Very happy with the results and performance up the tamaki river. And a very smooth finish that was noticeably faster. Yes we still had to scrub occasionally but it wasn’t hard and it didn’t remove the coating. Going through the whole Antifoul process every year is a pain.
  2. If you put 2 cleats on your mast ,one each side, you just pass a line through the eye and pull down and tie off on the cleat. Adjustable and can do all the reefs.helps that it pulls forward too.
  3. Think he is checking there too thanks
  4. Hi have a friend Fiji just ripped his Genoa and looking for options. Leopard 38 cat sail 15.2 x 13.2 x 5.6 anyone have anything used that might suit. Thanks
  5. Good to see she finally made it up to the islands. Will be an awesome boat for sailing up there
  6. With good bridge deck clearance and average weather you can sail blue water with out any slapping on many cats. Not overloading is important both in weight and sail carried
  7. The most dangerous bit of boating I have seen was the harbour masters boat screaming up the inside of the pole berths going up the eastern side of the tamaki river, went past my moored boat no more than 3 metres away doing what looked like 30 knots. Didn’t really notice it coming until it was there , very dangerous if someone was heading ashore in a dinghy. Happened about 2 years ago , no idea what the rush was.
  8. Sounds like you should buy my cat for not much over 50 k. You could haul a kingie straight up the ramp. Tiki 38. There are 2 on trademe at the moment. Mine is the sloop rig one.
  9. I think you need to have a range of tactics to adapt to the conditions ,crew and sea room. And be able to change tactics as things change. Sailing solo you need to be able to go below and let the boat look after itself. I like the parachute sea anchor after using one overnight in 50 knots but can see the advantage of the drogue when moving forward is easier on the rudders Steering around waves is okay if you are not too tired but once it gets dark it gets hard to see what is coming. For cruising I like to keep it easy on the boat slow down and not break stuff
  10. 100 m or so of line towed in a bight off each quarter would slow things down considerably and easy to retrieve later. I have a Jordan series drogue to try but I wouldn’t use it in the gulf as they can be hard to pull back in , not something you would put out for an hour or 3.
  11. If its still mobile it should fit in council rules same as a caravan so it could be larger than 10 m2. You might be storing it on your land ready for sea level rise escapes
  12. Sent a message but yes if available thanks
  13. Just bought a new to me cat a 10m bi plane junk rig bridge deck which has already done some serious miles with previous owner Peter hill. Looking forward to getting to know Oryx just need to find a new owner for my Wharram tiki 38 now.
  14. I have a solid timber Samson post going through to the keel. Looks pretty reliable.
  15. Hopefully someone will want to take it on. Seems crazy cheap
  16. I think the west harbour one was called Cerberus or something and was very neglected moored by herald island for years. The Okahu one also sat for years doing nothing. Less timber and more glass and foam is good if a boat is neglected for years.
  17. What happened to the buccaneer 40 from Okahu Bay that was used for the rose noelle film. Wasn’t it sold to someone up north that was planning to repair it?
  18. Hi Greg Yes sold careless intent for around 25 maybe 4 years ago. Was pretty small inside. Think it may have gone to catabatic s old mooring at Okahu Bay but not sure where it is now. Just about to have 2 cats again now so my wharram tiki 38 for sale.
  19. Krisis is probably for sale panmure boating club should know. A quick older tri that has had cruising additives
  20. The buccaneer in west harbour is i think a 40 and a nice boat that has had money spent. The marina will know if its still there. Was by the ferries. There was a 33 that I used to own for sale in Devonport. Much cheaper boat sailed well up to 12 knots boat speed. The 40 would be a better boat.
  21. Thanks sent a message to you BP
  22. Hi have a friend heading for Tonga this month in a 40 ft cat and looking for a cheaper spinnaker or similar. Maximum about 15 m luff but will consider much smaller even down to about 10 m to pull him along hopefully.
  23. I have a Volvo 3 blade folder on a 25 mm shaft 380 mm diameter ot so 500 with shaft. In New Plymouth though was on a yanmah 30
  24. We went there a few weeks ago and everything we needed was close to the bridge where we parked the dinghy. Fuel water and food. Some nice anchorage on wanganui island and then we found Colville bay good too.
