  1. That's the one. Seeing as how it's on the cover of stuff now I'm pretty sure the hm will be aware. I couldn't see it on my way back over the bridge just now, but that could be the higher tide, or again just not looking too hard while driving!
  2. One of the boats at shoal bay seems to have sunk on its mooring. Didn't get a great look as I was driving, but looked like a ketch or schooner, red headsail partially unfurled. Just in case anyone here knows the owner...
  3. Well, if the BEV can meet the nominated range, which seems to be the issue here. Agree in general though.
  4. My best guess is that this pricing is for a premium product to the super-yacht set, given that the RV version is $135/mo with a one-time hardware cost of $599!
  5. I just saw elsewhere that official starlink marine is $5000/month!? No wonder people are dedicated to getting other versions working.
  6. How are zoom calls with that latency? I guess 100ms maybe isn't too bad.
  7. Is that rotting hulk still in izzy bay? Doesn't seem to have made the list.
  8. Filled with epoxy, drill, re-tap, seems all good. Just need some wind to stress test it now!
  9. Thanks all. I'm thinking epoxy is the best option here.
  10. I'm trying to fill a screw hole in a fibreglass dinghy hull which has pulled out. I want to fill it and then retap. I'm trying to use polyester resin for that, but it's too thick to run into the hole properly without drilling it out further. So... can I think the resin? Should I drill out the hole? Use something else entirely? I don't have access to the back so the threads need to bite, can't bolt through.
  11. Wow. That doesn't leave many places that they'll take! We used to have Bailey's on a swing moorning. Been a few years though, can't say for sure that they still do.
  12. Seems to me that beefing up the AKL HM to better enforce the regs that do exist might be the middle ground that satisfies everyone.

Seems like offshore manufacture is going to be the way to go for a cruising sail. Only real question is how much you pay for someone local to spec it and take some service responsibility.
  14. And if you do have waterfront, you probably don't care about the costs of keeping the boat.
  15. I watched more of that video than I care to admit. Surprisingly entertaining. Did he really say he waterblasted the inside!?
  16. All the moreso as marina costs go up and up and up.
  17. > Some salient advice for cheap yacht buyers Don't ?
  18. You might be a while waiting for him to see this, probably best to ring.
  19. Or to be fair, to pay marina costs, which is a biggie.
  20. Yeah I was just looking at that. Could be unpleasant. Especially with tidal stream against.
  21. Legacy and rum bucket also turned back?
  22. Just sourcing the bolts, or having someone do the whole job?
  23. That's probably just the hold amount, not the final charge.
  24. I always know when there's going to be a general recall. It's when I've somehow managed to get a good start for once.
  25. I thought it was interesting how long it took for someone to comment here on the news at all. Everybody's over it and nobody cares anymore? Dalts may have got top $ for the hosting rights but pretty sure he's lost an awful lot of NZ support, goodwill and interest. We will all be welcome if we fly to Barca -- yeah, nah.
