Black Panther 1,586
I like them. Have a look at the pics of Nigel Irens' Romilly and Roxanne. Two of my all time favourites. But this guy has added a roller furler Now one of the advantages of a lug sail that it is self vanging, so how does this guy control twist??
Terry B 71
Hi BP, not sure how he does it but have a gander at this link - about 1/2 way down there's an interesting set up - but the whole ling is worth reading. http://www.storerboatplans.com/wp/desig ... d-rigging/
BNG 44
so how does this guy control twist?? Probably doesnt control twist which is why Darwins theory took over and we moved to other rig configs ?
Black Panther 1,586
They had the same issue when they started putting roller furling on bermudan rigs - where to attach the vang on the boom, the issue isn't exclusive to a lug, I just couldn't see how he had done it on this boat. BNG 44
A bit of a reference to it here http://www.storerboatplans.com/wp/design/rig/sails/making-balance-lugs-faster-2013-setting-up-sails-spars-and-rigging/ Possibly adaptable for roller furling. Need a couple of sheaves on the boom to allow the Bleater to rotate round the boom but not slide. New word for the day "Bleater", sounds more like something from the boats are impossible to sell thread from a wee while ago.
