Guest
Hi Richard- Sounds like interesting reading.....Will look forward to getting a copy when your completed. Hopefully a number of the old boats will resurface....I think a matter of tracking people down and getting them motivated.
Changed 10
Things come a little slower at times. Tiny Dancer was the other Harmonic off the CD moulds. Anyone know where she is now? Built by a uy Williams I think.
Quarterback 1
Jack Williams built the Harmonic 24 GRP boats at marmony yachts in Tauranga the first 3 were moulded ply and raced it the 1975 series. CD and Tiny Dancer were built as one offs by thier owners one being Jack Taylor of Howick a boatbuilder.
Changed 10
Sorry forgot the name. He apparently built TD off the moulds for CD. CD was built by a furniture maker, now in Featherston of all places, hence the supherb attention to detail in her build.

Unicorn 0
I am fairly sure that Fantzipantz won in 1973. Demon Tweaker won once, so 1974 sounds right. I think a boat named 727 won in 1975 before being renamed 45 South and winning the Quarter Ton Cup in France.
Richard2249 5
1976 was a great year for the 727! Ten in the top 12. But Magic Bus was all conquering...
B00B00 310
I used to own the slipery feathers, a Spencer quarter toner, the last one on the last. Brought it after the boat had gone on the rocks, keel was ripped off and it needed a whole new bottom. Had the boat for a few years then upgraded to the SR26.

Boatworks 23
Blackfun taken in Wellington last weekend 21 August. This is from my phone and I have a lot more digital camera shots but still on the other camera. It's been a major - a much bigger project than the guys first anticipated but she's looking mighty fine. Paint on the deck due this week after fairing. It's fantastic to see a bit of NZ history being fully restored and revamped.
Guest
Figaro always struggled with a too small a main. It made her very sticky in the light. Re Black Fun. Is that an extended deck to flush transom I spy??
Guest
Extending the deck was a brilliant move on smokey Joe- Made the back of the boat far more useful....Plenty of room to drink rum on after the racing. Also handy rope lockers etc. Whats the chance the old keel from black fun might be available for sale....?
Guest
Not much I would say - thats me cutting it off with a sabre-saw when we couldn't get it out to drop her on a trailer to go down south last year.....Boat Butcher Extraordinaire. Roy Dickson was there and said he would only let me near Playbouy if I wasn't carrying a skill saw.
Richard2249 5
Thanks Boatworks for the Black Fun rebuild photo, looking like a pretty thorough rebuild. Interested to know much fairing is going on under the stern, I think they were going to fair out the crease a bit.
