paxfish 5
Hi Gang - The boat launches in 5 days! Thanks for your patience with my continued prodder questions. The plans call for a 2 meter prodder. What do you think about this Hobie boom for a prodder? It measures 4.5 cm by 7.5 cm and is an extruded tube with a bolt rope track. I presume it is stronger than a round tube of similar dimensions. I also have a Hobie 16 mast of somewhat greater dimensions available that could be used. I do want to watch the weight up front though. And with either of them, I have to figure out a connection fitting to the forward crossbeam (parrot beak or whatever.) I considered the Hobie mast base ball and socket, but figure I might need something that locks. It could be done with perhaps a Dyneema safety tether in case the joint separated. Also - It would seem from some of your videos, you are running longer prodders for sure. Any issues with that? Here is what the Hobie boom looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTM_jEhJxVo&feature=youtu.be Your comments are solicited....
