The big T 41
Have inherited an inflatable dinghy (Aquapro) which has two lifting hinges glued to one side. The original owner wants these for his new dinghy. I know handles rowlocks etc fall off with time but how can I remove these without destroying dinghy.
Pumbaa 9
Hi, use a heat gun and be patient, also mask the surrounding boat/pvc with wide cheap masking tape, just to help deflect a bit of heat. Then use a blunted putty knife to slide between the boat and davit pad. The problem is obviously that the davit pad has a lot of mass and the pvc it's attached to doesn't and you're aiming for a temperature that compromises the glue but not the fabric. It's a thin line at the best of times it will be almost impossible to remove if they've been put on correctly within a couple of years without destroying the pad. If they've been there ofr a long time it might be quite easy and they might separate without heat, just the putty knife. Just remember no sharp edges! File radius's/radii(?) and then fine sand the corners of the tool. If it's looking tricky or you get scared take it to an inflatable boat shop.
