Marshall Law Ross 40, 2 handed build up.

Recommended Posts

So last weekend we had our first training run for The SSANZ triple series.

Had a great sail which started in about 10 knots of breeze with the kite up, then a wee reach under masthead gennaker followed by a short beat which turned into a tight reach up to north head. then the breeze got up inside north head and we ended up beating up the harbour in 30 odd knots with a ref in.

Apart from the hydraulics for the vang and outhaul shitting themselves and phil managing to park the boat into the finger of the marina it was a great morning.

She is a really well sorted boat.

Yeah there will be three of us sailing the boat through the series. Phil and Carl are doing the first race, phil and smithy doing the second and we will see about the third. So all three out for the training sail.

The big question is

Will Smithy make the cut for race three

It's going to be the big one what with the shortest course and finish in Issy Bay

Ha! Just seen this thread. Yes, looking forward to the SSANZ series. Made the call early on to make sure that the Marshall makes all 3 races even if I am offshore. Phil and Carl know Ross 40s a bit and have learnt all of Provincial Cowboy's sneaky tricks so I am hoping for some trickle down of all Simon Manning's hard work! (Only fair seeing as he took the good ideas off the Marshall and added some of his own!!). If all goes to plan, the Marshall should have a few go fast bits added before the last SSANZ race as well, building up to the RNI with Phil. After a pretty slack 12 months, it's time to go racing again!
