S.M.U. 15
15 entries for a new long race. Not a bad effort. Two from Whangarei and 1 from Tauranga so not just an Auckland affair.

Clipper 343
We will be there in Motorboat... Just... I could hear the stereo fine last night from our berth - you must be good to go.
Battleship 100
If it's light they can just crank the stereo and the woofer should generate a breeze.

khayyam 68
I put a stereo in a customers boat this year that can draw 116 amps! 6 Amplifiers and 16 speakers. Anyone top that yet?? did you also put in a gps tracker so that we know which bays to avoid?!
Island Time 1,211
Don't think you'll need a tracker - you'll be able to hear it from the next bay - or maybe island!
B00B00 306
Ours is nothing that huge but there are 2 rather large amps and a capacitor there. Its quite loud. Fully sponsored by Fusion.
Clipper 343
From the next pier over it sounds loud for sure
Fish 0
Must have been a mint night to be out racing last night, big fat full (almost) moon, clear sky, calm seas. Possibly not as much wind as some would like, but still must have been a magic night to be on the water. The lead boats have / are just rounding the Karewa Islands. The rest spread out up to about Hot Water Beach. The Motorboat and Truxton leading the short handed pack (some boats might have dropped off the tracker due to phone coverage). SMU's Crew 4
SMU was parked up for about 3 hours last night, but enjoying the sail. Last message I got was that it was going to be long day...I replied to that saying that the long day will be followed closely by wet ones!
Jon 355
Ran Tan II, Miss Scarlet, Anachy and Titanium all round Karewa Truxton followed by Motor Boat rounding now
khayyam 68
are they going to make it back before it gets horrible out there?

Fish 0
Will be interesting to see the tactical decisions on the leg from the Karewa Is up to the Poor Knights. It's 3 miles shorter coming inside Gt Barrier (148 nm v 145 nm), but it involves being restricted by solid bits at the Hole in the Wall, and having to come back through Colville Channel. NE currently forecast, building. Probably be better wind outside GB, but a flatter sea state inside. Now casting is showing a favorable wind spend and angle at Channel Is right now, for coming back through Colville Channel, but that may change. Think it will come down to each boats assessment of what exactly the weather and sea state will do, and what actually happens as they work north up to the Mercs. That would be about where you'd need to commit to a plan. Edit: If you go inside the Mercs and Outside GB its 145 nm, so the same as going inside GB. Guess it will come down to what the wind and seastate does. I'm going to pick some of the earlier boats go outside and the later boats may go inside, maybe.
Fish 0
So Ran Tan and Miss Scarlet went outside Great Barrier, everyone else has gone inside. Should qualify for a suitable qualifier now for the two handed RNI boats. Must be soggy and bouncy work getting up to the Poor Knights this morning. Ran Tan off the back of Kawau just now, Miss Scarlet and Anarchy rounded Poor Knights. The bulk of the fleet around Great Barrier (probably with some boats out of cell phone range up by the Mokes)
