ynot 44
Silly question... When a yacht suspends racing when allowed in the rules does the clock stop and then start again? When the boat resumes. Noticed this in the rnz race
B00B00 306
No way to ever stop the clock unless you get redress. Clock starts when the gun goes and stops when you cross the finish line.
ynot 44
Kinda thought so. Have had a few conversations that think otherwise. Cheers for clarification
B00B00 306
LOL If it was that easy everyone would just stop and wait for the best forecast! I have never suspended racing before in my life but we did it twice in one day in the RNZ race! Cost us the race but it was a seamanship call and at least we got the boat home in one piece.

ex Elly 197
The main benefit of suspending racing is so you can use your engine.

AJ Oliver 154
Can I suspend the race whilst I do my turns?
B00B00 306
Not much point as you would need to do them again once you have resumed racing. If you have a penalty to take it has to be done while racing.
