1paulg 17
to Seven Seas Cruising Association 3 hrs · I was saddened to see Glen Tuttle's post on the "Cruisers Network", about the Murder in Guna Yala, San Blas Islands, Panama. We cruised that are in 2012 and 2013 and thought it was a real treasure. According to the post it was a on board robbery gone bad. The owner was killed, but his wife and children were unharmed Apparently it was a Kiwi -dont have a name but above is a copy of the post -am sure the name is out there somewhere. Terrible situation to be in with your family aboard - bit reminescent of Peter Blakes scenario....
raz88 96
Very sad. 2 years ago we cruised through the San blas and felt safe. Guess anywhere is only as safe as the lowest denominator.

Black Panther 1,566
One of maybe two places we felt a bit threatened in 10 years of cruising.
B00B00 306
Very sad. We absolutely LOVED our time there last year and never had any cause for concern. I would say it was people who have traveled from the main land rather than the outer islanders where everyone cruises.
darkside 61
That's very bad news. Been a while but same impression for us, very friendly locals. Mind you we bought a lot of molas.
Black Panther 1,566
Exactly, we were mola'ed out by the time we got there. When we said we weren't interested in buying any more we were told they "couldn't guarantee our safety". Apparently there has been an arrest so we may find out a bit more. wheels 543
Alan was a well known and highly respected local here in Marlborough. The Sea had been his life/ He used to be a commercial Paua diver. He was also the guy that searched and for the Sounds Guy that went missing a few years back, where they found his power boat way out to Sea. He was the guy that towed the boat all the way back.Very sad that this has happened. We all wish his Wife and Kids well as she has the terribly sad job of bringing him back to NZ.
