strath 4
Hi I am replacing a damaged Raymarine Airmar Speed/Temp paddlewheel insert fitting. The instructions state "Use water-based antifouling paint only" to the low section and paddle wheel. Is waterbased anti fouling available in NZ? Or do you have any alternative tips? wheels 543
There are water based AF's available. But I can't say I have ever seen them on shelf anywhere. The best method is to remove the unit when not in use if that is possible. Of course that is not possible for the old turbine design sumlogs.Second is to anitfoul. Lastly would e lanolin, but lastly only because it really doesn't last long. For anyone interested, i sent a heap of Lanolin to KM at Chains Ropes and Anchors. Contact him if you want some. I have more here for anyone in the South Island. It is a thick grease that needs to be heated to apply. It comes in a grease gun/caulking gun type tube, but too thick to get out using either of those tools.
ex Elly 197
I have used normal antifouling on an Airmar paddlewheel. Didn't damage it.
wheels 543
The Sumlog plastic is solvent sensitive. Possibly an ABS type of plastic and is very thin
