I have read some very strange things about covid.  So first, yes it's real. And yes if you read reputable medical information you will probably be closer to the truth than a lot of other sources.

It’s a chance for horse face to put her ugly mug on tv every day now and the sheeple will Lao it up , perfect for re electing this clueless under performing team for the finishing touches on screwing

I don't agree and if you read the rest of what she said, she explains about the tolerance. IMO the govt have done a pretty good job at this point, in a difficult situation, with the resources we

what a mess

under level 3 people are allowed to drive to the beach for a walk

but under level 4 council locked off the toilets and car parks

and instead of opening the car parks they call in the police to turn people away for obeying the law

more and more, and all over the place, this looks less like disease control and more like grasps for greater power by people who hate democratic oversight

Swimming and surfing have also been allowed, although for experienced practitioners only.

But due to some of the car parks remaining closed cars were lined up across footpaths leading to the seaside.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12329152

the 2 new cases today were from a rest home worker taking the disease home

why are resources being wasted stopping people walking on a windy beach?

meanwhile lower queen st has been blocked to cars...apparently so cyclists have corona free corridors to ride down, but they already had that in the bus lanes???

seems to me council are simply using this crisis as an excuse to ram it through their war on cars

and now we're being told a move from our 3.5 to level 2 would be too much

they'd prefer moving to 2.5......whatever that is?

i consider myself to be a liberal

liberals are usually the opposite of conservatives, which is to the say the left

however there's very little freedom under labour's socialism

Liberalism
Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support free markets, free trade, limited government, individual rights, capitalism, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion.Wikipedia

Your NZ government's response has been at the very best. And if you look back in the future at the financial cost, ask yourself this..

How many of your family would you willing kill...And by doing that how much would you charge ? That is a cost starting point.  ..how about an older person.. 50 % less ? What if that person is your mother. Do that before you start talking rubbish about "cost to my country "..

Then go read a bit of mathematical principles. Perhaps look at the UK latest statistics.

"We should have done nothing because its not a problem l have seen"...is one of the oddest most selfish responses ....You have only a small problem because of your countries exceptional response !! Is that so hard to understand ?

Its not only the elderly that are effected.

I was talking to a skipper of a commercial dive boat the other day and he was telling me his divers are taking their bubble isolation very seriously as a covid infection could potentially end their career.

To be fair closing queen street is part of the city centre masterplan that was consulted on a while ago.

https://www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2020/05/04/city-centre-masterplan-now-online/

Yes council have taken an opportunity to bring forward the pedestrianisation of queen street earlier, but when better to bring in a change when everything else is changing at the same time.

Back on topic, with covid a gestation period of 5 to 10 days we should start seeing this week whether there is a marked increase in cases due to increased contact of the general population who are asymptomatic but still carrying/shedding to other people...

That's excellent, KM needs some time working on the farm. ;-)
