The border can not be shut to NZers. It is a basic fundamental and legal right to be able to return to your home country. It is absolute rubbish to say people should have come home earlier as there ar

yes prime minister what you need to know and when you need to know it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX45hc0aZt0

So, is National going to use the Canterybury Earthquake Recovery Agency CERA, to secure the border? CERA worked out real well for Chch... the definition of a beuracratic love fest. Dear god, some

Here's a question.

There is a lot of talk about what they are calling 'The Trump Effect' on polls. That is basically where people respond to polls with anything except Trump as they are scared to answer honestly as they know they will receive sh*t from the haters. As we all see we have less freedom of speech now than ever before and the slightest thing, be it real or only perceived, is jumped on by every muppet around in seconds, even muppets who have no skin in the game. So some see this Trump Effect as probably distorting the poll results. Some say bollocks but when you suss the on-line total anonymity polls they rate Trump higher than the polls where persons have to respond to a person or polls where anonymity is not always ensured, so many think it is a real thing.

There is anecdotal evidence the same is happening in NZ which I have no problem believing as one word against Beloved Leader and we see her cult comes down on whomever said it fast, hard and often in quite a vile nasty manner.  Look at  all other PM's we've had and current party leaders, they cop a lot of sh*t JA never has. You can say that's because she is loved, bollocks as look at the last government, it had ratings way up there like this one does but Key still got a mass of sh*t JA never has. Sure Crew is very left leaning so that's expected and happens here but out in the public it is not hard to detect people are not saying things this Government they would be if it was any other we've had, even the media are holding their water when usually they'd be all over some things.

So the question is could the Trump Effect which is playing a little with the US polls be also be happening in NZ?

Interesting.  Maybe.  But, I don't think the behaviour of the Nats (albeit a bit of porno stuff and leaking medical records) is enough to make people to scared to let on they are Nat supporters when it comes to Polls.  I think that might be more reserved for NZ First voters interestingly enough, who might not want to let on that they are going to still vote for Winnie.

I am disappointed as you in the 'Dear Leader' mentality.  There was a bit of that with Key too.  As I have stated before, I am no fan of Collins, but I think she definitely has to hold Jacinda to account as strongly as possible -- thats the role of the Opposition, with a lot of people saying that Seymour has been doing more effectively, even if he is a one man band.

Maybe it’s time our politicians accepted the old ways are done. MMP was suppose to provide us with proportional representation. The  Westminster adversarial form of govt is exclusive govt, it is past time we had inclusive govt. Room for  JC and Seymore and Collins To have input into governance.

That argument sort of falls apart when you consider all the other parties and the same issues they have and have had. Labour was fine with summer camp kiddy fiddling....until suddenly the trail got uncomfortably close to beloved leader and their tune quickly changed. NZF, no need to go down that hole. The Greens, why bother.

99% correct, you would have got 100% if you hadn't started with 'maybe'.

We have less representation now then we did 20 years ago yet we have more now that we will have in 20 years ............... unless the system changes.

Yep both Parties have dodgy doings recently....it seems scandals are a generic issue with all sides of the aisle.

The debate about how to manage the borders and testing has become the most important issue in the election campaign.

This is a point well made yesterday by Heather du Plessis-Allan:

"For both health and the economy, nothing else matters as much as the border right now, because it is the most important protection we have for both. Parties can announce as much as they like for future health spending – but if that border leaks, people will die. They can announce as much money as they like for future wage subsidies, but if that border fails and we're in lockdown, businesses will fall over. They can announce all the infrastructure spending they like but unless that border lets key workers through, the projects won't get finished. So everything hinges on the success of that border"

the rest of bryce's wide-ranging catch-up of the border breakdown stories also very good, as always
