Steve Pope 103
Surprise surprise! Oh dear they are not coming. How many millions of $ were spent to accommodate them?? Auckland Council as usual is right on top of their Game!! harrytom
dutyfree 81
Umm, the Council was supposed to have anticipated a global pandemic? (FYI I think the Council sucks) but this is a silly criticism. armchairadmiral, Rangi1 and Deep Purple
harrytom 260
Cal me stupid but have been for a wonder around the viaduct and can see no obvious change/enhancement
dutyfree 81
They built the seawall off "north wharf", shifted the car ferry around to Westhaven and purchased the worlds supply of road cones to stop all traffic
ex Elly 51
They doubled or tripled the marina berth rentals in the Viaduct, then said to the long term Kiwi renters, whoops sorry, and put them down the normal rate.

They never were in the first place. The number they quoted as coming during the sales pitch was hugely above the number of berths they were preparing, that's unless they expected 100 odd boats to anchor out each night which was not a happening thing. The floating transporter is due next week to take a few boats away as the Govt won't let the owners in to use them. Sadly leaving with the ships is many many many millions of bucks that was but now not going to be spent in NZ. But the ship is dropping a huge number of boats off here for locals and Aussie. A few more big stink boats are coming in on it. armchairadmiral
armchairadmiral 262
Yep....a kind caring and compassionate Government.....depending on who you are ! 300 a day reportedly come in by air. NZers reputedly but a lot are naturalised Indians ,Asians ,British and USA.If NZ is to keep out Covid its all or nothing. .Seems stupid to send away people who want to spend shiploads on their boats and could have quarantined on their boats at no expense to taxpayers.
