Head vent

Recommended Posts

Have the pair of 38 hoses going above the WL up to the nylon (Hansen?) inverted U thingy, but instead of the wee vent thingy, it tees into the vent hose from the holding tank, leading outboard. Instead, can I get the wee vent for the top of the U and separate the 2 , and no smell?

Get a "Carbon Activated Air Filter" from Burnsco and put it on the hose that goes outside.  Better still get rid of the holding tank, the toilet, all that stinky plumbing, those two hull fittings and instead put in a composting toilet :-)

Yes vic, any chandler should sell them as a spare part. It is a siphon break and normally should not leak any smells. There is no need to connect the small hose to the holding tank. Remove that and fit a new siphon break and things should be sweet.

Just make certain that the siphon valve is inserted up the right way! The little rubber valve is V shaped, and the point of the V points down.

these valves are designed to open under vacuum, and let air IN to the hose, then seal to keep the odour in the hose. When they do smell, they usually have something stuck in the valve, or the rubber is old and no longer seals....
