From team Fineline...

Some good luck for Fineline... A kindly fishing boat gave the guys 40 ltrs of diesel and the seas have dropped a bit so they are making good progress and heading straight into Nelson. Expecting to get there 9pm-ish.

This was obviously a brutal leg, much worse than anything we had last race. Big ups to all the finishers and the guys still out there getting shaken up.

I hate to be the one to mention it but the next leg is shaping up to be pretty henoius too.

Castle point forecast for tuesday night is Northerly 50kts and that coast is one of the worst of the lot...

I cant see them starting untill wednesday?

So pleased to hear the guys and Fineline are safely on land. Team Mr Roosevelt have first hand experience of dismasting in the race and had the same fuel shortage issue. Mark and I are so pleased you are safely in Nelson. Enjoy a sleep and a couple of rums. Look forward to sharing war stories with you when you get back to Auckland. Stay safe. Cheers, Team Mr R.

Cook Strait quietening down. Currently 10 to 20 knots from the SE. Northerly change forecast for midday ish. To build to 20 - 30 knots in the afternoon and then drop back to 20 knots in the evening. This should the yachts a good shunt through the strait.

Friday night didn't sound like a fun night to be at sea. Laissez-faire had to bail out several thousand litres of water after their front hatch blew open in the night. Apparently downstairs on Kama Police was 'like s swimming pool' when they finished too.

Here's Kama Police finishing (4th in).

Here's some of Laissez-faire finishing later on just before dark, including a fist in the air at the moment the crossed the line. Their 3 reefs in the main are because they had lost the main track cars on the mast below the third reefing point in the blow the night before.post-3053-14188717456.jpg

PXt just in from Clear Vision, continuing on in the race, looking forward to seeing their friends in Wellington later today. They're just passing the Chetwodes.

Coppelia is off Barretts Reef trying to make their way up the harbour in very little wind. The wind has turned to the north in the harbour.

Pepe still out to sea on the south coast, but very little wind out there at present. Tide now against them as well.
