Opps date cock-up sorry.

The 18's start today and there is a whopping 16 of them, how cool is that   16 12's as well.

As at 1312hrs Monday -

Sitting on land thinking 'gosh isn't it lumpy out there. Hows about we delay until 1500hrs and the change of tide then go for a yacht'.

16 x 18fters and 16 x 12fters, magnificent effort lads, well done. Good to see the Skiffs coming back in bigger numbers, some good yacht racing watching to watch on Akl harbour at long last. Have to be the biggest fastest growing best fun to watch fleet in Akl by far.

2 races this arvo for the 12's. No 18's bar Ging in his new beast out for a prctice and they looked good.

Plenty of wind and the water had flattened nicely for it. All on small rigs.

R1 today

Chris and Ben (Reido)

An Aussie, Gemmel Sails I think it was

Errrrr... memory failure

R2 today

Team Bartlett - and they made it look real easy leading from a crash hot start to the finish.

Team Send It or Team Tug Mussel or, as one spectator described the skipper, 'the 111kg lump'. One of the 2 aboard travels under many monikers :) They also had a ripper from a OK start. Pulled back Tim once or twice but in the end couldn't make it stick and held of 2 boats right up their chuff very nicely.

Guarde, an Aussie 3rd

The top end of the fleet is very tight and it slightest cock-up could easily end in places lost, a capsize would mean a lot of places lost. Knot that many went for a water cooled break this arvo.

A couple of pics taken in a baby camera sorry.

- 2 12's and the new 18fter. The top 12 in the photo is Chris and Ben who are probably leading the series at the moment working it out off the cuff.

- A chunk of the fleet at the start of R2 today

- Left is the aforementioned Team Send it with the blue main, right with the F on the main is Frankenskiff with team Bartlett and the other one is someone else, all just leaving the startline.

Was up on North Head today - the skiffs looked fantastic on the water. You get a sense of just how cool it must have been watching the 18's in the old days with thousands watching.

You look to be going OK and have the measure on most Send it. Good watching you.

Just one thing if I may. If the Sun does ever come out can you please keep all the spectators in mind when you kit up. As there has been a good few watching we would like to beable to do that for all the racing so to ensure you don't cause random sun strike issues, please wear a hat

How's that Timmy B? Decades of Skiffing and he's still on to of the game. That's knot at all shabby.

Good racing today, the last race for both fleets.

Patchy breeze going from real good to limp and then back again so a couple of good bursts spotted along with the odd park up.

Looks like Ginge took the 18's and Gemmel the 12's, from our very ruff Nth Head workout.

Damn good seeing 35 plus Skiffs infesting the harbour. Always a magnificent site.... as were the brave and now rather soggy spectators keen enuff to go watch.

Good to see they had a media boat out all week and the videos, like the one above, being done. Be better to see them on telly but that does seem to be a big ask these days.
