Sawdust can be poisonus

When I started teaching Teens about woodwork, I was shocked to learn that many of the timbers we worked with in NZ were extrememly toxic. One or two could kill almost on the spot, but mostly they were all an irritant in some kind and a great majority were carconagenic. I found this website that had a list of timber and it's degree of toxology. It is Australian, but severl species of NZ timbers are listed.

Riiiggght  I will have to watch that one when it comes into the shop

To keep on subject though....squid......one of the most common timbers, Origon, is one of the worst. It is a major cancer causing dust. So careful chaps.
