Guest
It depends on volume, eg less than half a cube or half a cub to a whole cube or over a hole cube. then theres lengths and widths. so theres a range of $8200 to $12960 per cube planks from $7.35 to $16.50 lmtr, depending on amount and thickness from 6mm to 12mm. Margins and king planks vary from $28.47 to 139.73 depending on size and quantitiy. MAKES PAINT SEEM CHEAP
Guest Dry Reach
... OK Whats the artificial "stick on" stuff worth. Just pricing up converting a Etchell to a "classic day sailor" (see thread "what a beauty" in marine talk). Real teak is the answer and it would not be a lot of deck area but?... rigger 47
Timspec Timber Specialists Limited 66c Stoddard Rd Mt Roskill, Akl, New Zealand 09 620 0260 I bought teak of them a year or 2 back, that had rippings that were available for a good price at the time, they were very helpful and gave me a huge amount of time for what they knew was going to be a small purchase - about $200 worth - it was good quality and exactly wat I needed, I would suggest giving them a call based on my experience with them

wheels 543
It's still expensive. Several hundred per sqM. When it was first out, i think they quoted me $350/sqM and I think that is because they used to say they had to lay it themselves. Worth asking in case that has changed. Personally I don't like it. It doesn't look right. But you don't have to go teak. There are other timbers around that will work OK. Quila if it is allowed to weather so the red sap is gone and it silvers to look just like teak. Matai has been used on decks. Although I think you would want to keep that oiled or coated. It could also be worth looking at a plastic timber mitre 10 have for decking. But that doesn't look real once again. I bought a few old teak boarding platforms and broke them down and used the timber to do some teak work on mine. But it wasn't deack work. You need soem decent timber for deck work. And there tends to be a bit of wastage with fancy nancy cutting around King planks and such. It's one hell of a lot of work by the way. Will get price, for new, from supplier. Saw some on a launch, in nelson, last week and it looks pretty good and with a lot less effor to lay.
Guest
Had all the Teak on the cockpit floor and combings replaced last year on the 1020. $960.00 for the timber, and $1,240.00 to remove the old, prep and lay the new. As Wheels said, it was a hell of a job, glad I got a pro to do it. Looks a million dollars now, and it's the sort of thing people do look at, so has to be done properly. J. tuffyluffy 76
I can second what Rigger said - Timspec are great. Ive bought a metric shytload of specialist timber from them over the years. Price and service has always been great. Teak is blimmin expensive at the mo, hence ive been using Iroko as an alternative. Its referred to as 'poor mans teak' and it looks pretty good at half the price.

Guest georgeboscon
Pressure treated saw dust also contains toxins such as strychnine, also often used as rat poison. These toxins, when inhaled, can require hospitalization for both acute and chronic exposures. Decking Timber
