Gold Cup Passage Series - short handed

The Gold Cup passage series this year will have a short handed division, with a max crew of 3. The series is all done and dusted before the RNI, so it makes a great warm up series. Coppelia will be racing and it would be excellent to have some company....

Being able to have 3 people means you can take a coach or a galley slave.

Is there any indication yet if the Gold Cup short handed division will be permitted to use auto-pilots?

Will be interesting to see how this div goes for numbers given the popularity of the Simrad and other short handed racing like the Barfoot & Thompson series. The Gold Cup has some neat inshore courses - not having to organise a rugby team to sit on the rail just to be competitive suddenly makes the series very attractive :D

A bit like a summer Simrad series with a 'bring an extra mate'.

The dates are as follows:

Richmond Yacht Club – 21 September 2013

Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron – 12 October 2013

Royal Akarana Yacht Club – 9 November 2013

Bucklands Beach Yacht Club – 7 December 2013

Royal Akarana Yacht Club – 31 January 2014 - Balovic Cup

Courses are the same as last year.

I reckon it makes it a little more attractive for smaller boats too - where 3 people might actually be most of the crew.

The Start could be interesting if the divisions aren't split - we found out the hard way last year that 25 footers don't mix well with 50 footers, and now you might have short handers in the mix too.
