Do I smell a bar fight here?

Ye of little faith. Tim will apologise for misleading everyone, blame it on disappointment about the overweight and do what he should have done in the first place. Detail the 75 kg calculations (maybe the hours as well), then explain where he went wrong. With a bit of luck, he will learn a bit of humility and not be so quick to attack others in future.

And Gary will apologise for being unprofessional, give his take on why the weight was so high and we can all discuss how it could have been done better/made lighter, which is what the forum is all about.

and we all know the answer to this !

if tim had only made one hull then he would have saved half the weight !! (and saved half the labour $ ) ....but then he would have had to have sailed backward....doing that shunty thing all over the harbour.

still waiting for that big proa to come race us !

The real fight and the proof of the pudding is on the water :)

Hiya Rob I wasn't picking a fight with you or Tim! In fact I'm still trying to work out how this all got started. You both strike me as intelligent men and I wonder why there isn't room for each others points of view? Hell I know nothing about designing or building boats or the bits that make them go so I'd believe anyone who sounds rational. What's the argument about? (probably a rhetorical question)

I heard that the no one is will allow proas to enter for the bigger races. A good reason why, or...

I am sure that for a well publisized pissing competition with multiple bottles of rum on the outcome, it could be arranged. And there would be plenty of spectators too.

Or isnt there a race on 22nd December which would suffice?

Man or mouse??

Rob's boat won't be here by Xmas - hopefully around end of Feb, otherwise yes he could race in our rum race.

I was referring to the NZMHYC refusing an entry which I found a bit disappointing.

Regardless of any clubs accepting entries or not, I would hope that, after all the spouting off here, if Rob shows up with his boat and challenges anyone in Auckland to race him on a triangular course at a certain time and date. There would be a few people who would be honor bound to back-up their statements and take him on??

Takers?

Sure it's not upside down?

It's like one of those pictures where you don't know whether it is an old lady or a young girl. On first look I saw a "conventional" hull upside down with a bit of a chine, second look a "modern" ama with a reverse bow right way up.

The noise of the duelling banjos coming out of this thread is getting a bit loud.

Can you keep it down a bit please, it's disturbing my porn viewing. Thank you.

I thought your porn was usually somewhat disturbing?

Yes Dean I will be keen, I haven't forgotten my challenge to Rob (or any Proa owner/designer for that matter). Its just been so long since I offered the challenge (and still no proa) that the boat I had is sold and the new boat is being built, but hopefully the owners of Capricorn would let me come out with them for a little race with the Proa?

Unfortunately theres still no Proa thats actually racing?

And Dave stop going on about the NZMYC banning the tacking proa (with no CAT 3) back in the 80's its time to move on!

Sorry, I split this topic to keep the building thread "clean, anyone interested in the Rob vs Tim debate I'm sure will find it.

Samin, I meant to move your post also , but missed it, please go to the new thread to see my response re being banned from racing.
