Not a good report this one.

Superbird to Cruise sufford a dissmasting when their Diamond stay broke and the mast crumpled under the pressure. They then had to hack the mast away to make sure it didnt damage the boat and they have lost the rig and sails. They then used their little motor to motor away from the Hen and Chicks to get away from the lee shore and are awaiting a tow from anyone (coast guard are busy)

The girls on Strider have reported that they are at sail rock how ever two of their crew are sick.

Taeping are approaching cape brett in light breeze with Giacomo in front and Charleston are roaring up behind. Changing to masthead zero and looking for some wind.

No Worries the Ross 930 are just of tuts in 12 knots of wind doing around 7 knots. Unfortunately for the fleet they report that their speed is dropping. Heres hoping it doesnt completely die.

Despite it not being updated Giacomo have finished and are coming straight back to Auckland. Looks like it might be a long night for the professionals onboard the beast.

Taeping is about to finish as well and they will be pleased that they have been able to put some distance on Charleston since they have rounded the cape.

The ross 930s are having a great battle from the sounds of it.

Wild Oats are locked into a battle with No worries whoo are just ahead and Pepe are abeam of them. 2 sail reaching at Elizabeth reef at present and everything is well aboard.

A ross 930 must be a lot slower than the giant cat sundreamer for the skipper. I wonder how hes holding up.

Line honors for the big boats have been decided.

Multis was

1st- TA

2nd- TVS

3rd Taeping

Monos

1st- Giacomo (no surprises)

2nd- Georgia

3rd- V5

the remaining of the fleet have all but one passed whanagrei heads with the 40 footers now reaching cape brett. There are some great battles raging amongst some of the fleet with good scatterings of boats racing side by side.

No surprises as to who is leading division two at the moment as outrageous fortune is a powerful boat but I was not expecting to see the boat from Tauranga, Frenzy running in second and keeping up with the big heavy 40 footers. Last years winner for division 2 Nosaka has been off the pace as expected (northly isnt a good race for them) but I wonder if going outside the Hen and Chicks also hurt them.

A number of these boats that are still racing with 10+ miles still to go need a little bit of extra wind to make sure that they finish in time as the cut of time for this race is 2pm. heres hoping the breeze builds for them especially for the all womens team on Strider as it would be nice for the womens prize to be given out.

Taeping

My best ever coastal

Upwind but very interesting

Just tell me one more time that multihulls can't go to weather and then look at the results.

A low budget small multihull had a ding dong battle with the old Groupama and they beat us by about 10 minutes or so

The AC shows the full potential of multis and if you don't have one you need to know you are doing something wrong!
