Guest
Hi I have found a boat in Australia that is a Brin Wilson design and build. I have found heaps of information on him as a builder but almost none as a designer! Can anyone shed any light on his designs? Good bad or ugly? Thanks James
Guest
The ones I am aware of are very well regarded, if it was built by hin so much the better. Ugly - that's a personal call. But they appeared at the height of NZ's heyday od local designers/builders. I've never heard a bad word about them and they are even considered to get along pretty smartly. Wonder if Fossil is around, he would be the man to ask.
Guest
A kauri built Brin Wilson design will be seakindly and strong as anything. They are getting old, so all usual warnings on checking for rot and maintenance apply. The boats are also usually from the last days of RORC rule and early IOR so big headsails, small mains and lots of lead. Possibly even tumblehome. What is the boat's name? Then Fossil can give you the real story.
