Wake of Worsley expedition to South Georgia

We are a team of 5 Kiwi women planning to sail to South Georgia Oct 2012 - intending to cross Shackleton Traverse in the Wake of Worsley (first all womens team to do this); Worsley as most sailors know navigated the James Caird open life boat across 800 miles of Southern Ocean from Elephant Island to South Georgia after the Endurance had been crushed (1914) and after months on the ice. Frank Worsley was a Kiwi -from Akaroa - we also intend to climb Mt Worsley named after him - we want to celebrate the incredibly inspiring achievement of this under recognised Kiwi hero. Thanks to his amazing sailing and navigational skills, not to mention courage, all 28 men of the fated expedition were rescued. To achieve our goal we need to raise approx $130,000 mainly to charter the boat - anyone out there keen to help us out ? - go to our website to check out our team and our story www.wakeofworsley.com

wow. that will be an awesome expedition, with some very qualified mountaineers.

And totally agree that was an inspirational voyage (rescue) in all respects, land and sea.

Interesting to see the original James Caird is on display in Dulwich College, London.

I am sure there will be interest here to support and follow this.
