Serendipit7 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Share Posted February 10, 2013 The yacht, an Oyster575, leaves Auckland around May 1st bound for Fiji, then Vanuatu then Oz, arriving Mackay very early in July. We have space for one fit and able person to join three grumpy fiftysomethings on the cruise. You are fit and able, probably 25-45 with a love of the sea and sailing. You have a strong stomach, sharp eyes and are of amiable disposition. You dont need to be a salty sea dog, but you have done enough sailing to be confident in your sea legs! You would be an active member of the crew standing watch and joining in the various routine tasks of keeping a happy ship. If travel costs or subsistence is an issue, we might be able come to some simple arrangement in exchange for you taking responibilty for some domestic or administrative aspects of the journey. Finally, we have space for the same or a similar person to join in Cairns at the end of August with a view to sailing with us to the Caribbeam by April 2014. Have 20 years coastal sailing experience and would love the opportunity to get some offshore miles. I dont get sea sick, have excellent eye sight and am available for the dates posted. I have a background in the coast guard, police and overseas specialised military roles. I pride myself in my ability to get along with just about anyone I meet. I have sailed since I was knee high and am experienced in many aspects of sailing. I currently work as a Sailing Instructor for Yachting New Zealand over the summer months and like to escape to a warmer climate for the winter. I am a qualified boat builder specialising in Marine cabinet making. Good with my hands for repairs/maintenance etc.. I have done a few ocean passages. Auckland to Noumea Race, Noumea to Mackay delivery and Mackay back to Opua. I Love offshore sailing and I’m not inclined to seasickness. Easy to get along with. I currently own a small keelboat which I race/cruise coastal NZ as much as possible. I would be available to sail from May until October 2013, except I would have to leave for a short time from about May 20th - 3rd June as I am already committed to sailing a regatta in Japan.
