  1. Perfection normally goes over 2 coats of undercoat and IIRC that should go over 1-2 coats of Interprotect or sim. if its a repaint.  If you're rolling and tipping then you'll def. want to do a light sand between coats and so 2 coats would be the go.

I painted Euphoria in this way outside at the Landing eons ago - the biggest drawback was my poor (eyesight and painting skill) painting white out in the sunshine.  It's probably too hot to paint outside now in anycase.

  2. I’ve just been informed through various yachting circles that Duncan passed away this evening.

Duncan and co. are of course infamous with their exploits aboard Krisis. Not the least of which includes being instrumental amoung the members that brought into existence that great race we call ‘the Coastal’.

    RIP Cookie - . . . and until we meet again . . .

  3. Ptown - I know quite a bit of history about TS. Peter Hustler and his wife have had her offshore, twice. Peter gave a great talk to the multi club about 10 years ago and i’ve got his slides somewhere still I think.

Ballistic was a whole heap of work when I bought her too - I’m probably the last egit to refurb a T in NZ. Things like that hole are minor, a full repaint, re canvas etc is where the big bucks will be neeeded, as well as somewhere to do the work - I reckon you’d want to have her out for a good 12 months. Your welcome to have a look at ours - currently out at Panmure.

Can also haul out at Panmure - TS might be a little tricker on club cradles though.

  4. Zozza,

Your second route is correct. DO NOT attempt the first at any tide - I have walked a fair distance between the two channels! To avoid confusion - in my screen shot - green route is okay - brown route is not. ( the north route is also okay but suggest you study it - in person!)

It’s far less scary when you are passing through than depicted on the charts - straight lining the Bouys is quite normal! The north channel is also quite easy to pass at mid to high tide but suggest you motor through it first to u derstmad the angles.

Spend a few hours observing this piece of water and you’ll fall in love with it!

  5. Good ol Robbie still carving it up!

The no pumping only existed in the first few Olympics when windsurfing first entered - back in Bruce Kendall’s day. As a consequence most course racing here also ran that rule.

I had no idea they still had the indoor circuit running - would have thought the H&S proletariat in Europe would have shut that down by now!
