  1. You can take a fiz boat owner to small claims court and charge them for a spilt breakfast and burning your finger. No Goverment official is going to be able to help you out. Unless as you say we pay more taxes.

  2. Freedom is staying chained up for the weekend. I feel like a woosy scardycat. The wind seems to be stronger than the forecasts lately or I am getting softer and the boat is now slightly more powered up.

Good luck to the hard out sailors out there.

  3. Thanks Philstar Clarky for an awesome first CC together and great new partner in Freedom. No hot food during the race but we got there in good time. Pies at the finnsih were a great.

The trip home was even quicker.

  4. We have several epirbs and just bought a torch that shoots a very bright spot in morse code. We usually take more than we need.

Flares  and almanacs should be optional. Cat three should be minimal and kept simple so that more boats get cat 3.Go Tim.

90% of the gear is essential. Like buckets, anchor, torches life jacktes, radios and a structural check etc.

Cats are required to carry dinghy inflated on deck, it can fill with water when you nose dive and cause the entire boat to flip. We need to have tethers, I would rather bring an ash tray.

A roll of duct tape should be on the list, simple cheap and saved us from sinking twice.

  5. Our screecher is quite flat we can sail it at around 30 to 60 apparent.  The angles of death.

I prefer our mast head kite which is also quite flat. We can still hold it in less than 40 to 90 degrees apparent and it is less problematic to put up and drop than the firliing screecher.

  6. We forgot to bring a watch, late for the start. Not good.

We went out to sea to try and get the easterly first. Voom was well gone by the time it came. Not good.

Close race with Tigre had to laugh as they fell in a wind hole meters away from the finnish. Very good.

Forgot to bring oars and had to use the 9.9 outboard on the 2m long inflatable. Not good.

Good selection of sausages by the comitee which goes really well with lots of rum.  Very good.

Dynamite had the best speaker war. Very good.

Good times good company, all in all very good.

  7. Go Oracle

    Plenty coastal forecast

Issued at: 4:42pm Saturday 11 Mar 2017 - Valid to: Midnight Sunday 12 Mar 2017

*** GALE WARNING IN FORCE ***
Northerly 20 knots rising to 30 knots early Sunday morning and to 40 knots late Sunday morning. Changing northwest 25 knots Sunday evening. Sea becoming very rough for for a time. Northerly swell rising to 3 metres for a time. Poor visibility in occasional rain.

  8. Not nice. Everyone is woried about them. That makes more sense, he has gone bush and used the boat story as a decoy.

Its been blowing westerleys every day in Auckland. I can't imagine this small cat going upwind through the bar very well, it would have been blown ashore by now and found by the spotter plane.

If he has made it to the BOI someone would have seen him. This time of year there are boats everywhere in BOI exploring every nook and cranny.

  9. Bare feet is my favourite. You can feel when you are slipping and then have a chance to grab something on the way down. Also tend to stomp less on your crew.

Not that I tried to but bare feet is proabaly better for swimming just in case
