We are waiting on weather in Lyttleton, going to Wgtn to fuel up etc then heading to Whitianga.
would prefer the East coast due to distance, however to much debris maybe a issue.
we don’t plan on being close inshore like 20miles plus offshore further if nesessary.
‘thanks for any good advice

Power boat or Sail?
If you look at radar image comparisons, you'd buy a Halo radar - Simrad for Power vessel, B&G for Yacht. IMO the Simrad or B&G are the market leaders.
As the other post above says, E80 era Raymarine has NOTHING in common with their modern stuff, it will ALL have to be replaced, so look around and see what you like.
If you are around, or can visit Gulf Harbor, I'd be happy to show you some options.. Send me a PM, or call 0221539176, Matt
I will be in touch, cheers for that

I am looking to upgrade my 2008 Raymarine electronics and radar.
I guess it’s easy to just update with Raymarine but what else do people use.
I am looking at 12 inch plotter fish finder, 3 mfds i70s and radar.
I am also looking for someone to install for me.
I currently have a E80 plotter, st60s
all advice gratefully accepted.

Hi I have a icom M802 with a AT140, looks like I will add the backstay insulators and tidy it all up and learn how to use it.

I will check tomorrow I am pretty sure it’s a marine set but will check, thanks

Ok I guess it’s worthwhile to keep then.
Tanks for the helpful comments

for the small cost I would spend the money.
What Radio and Tuner do you have?
Icom and icom auto tuner.
‘it’s all there and apparently works, probably hasn’t been used for 8 years or so at a guess.
Anyone sailed up the east coast in the last week or so?

The racing was great, fast and exciting, I thought this is far and away better than the Americas cup.
far more tactical I didn’t realise until afterwards, I think we will be back for Auckland and maybe in the stand for the next Lyttleton event.
