Richmond Yacht Club Presents…

Calm Before the Storm

Friday 29 August from 6:30pm

Georgina Griffiths from MetService

Georgina is a fully qualified forecaster with over 20 years of experience in both weather and climate. She’ll talk about what a storm is (you’d be surprised!), how they form, and which ones we should be really worried about. In her spare time, she enjoys sailing around the northern coastline with her husband and their two children. There’s usually a bit of debate about skippering, as they are both Ocean Yacht Masters.

Jamie & Darren Coastguard Northern Regions

Out on the water ANYTHING can go wrong…mechanical, medical, a collision or a submerged log…. In an average day in New Zealand Coastguard sends out 10 rescue crews to assist someone who is in some degree of trouble.

Listen to a day in the life of coastguard and how they do their best to reach people before lives are put in danger.

Dinner at 7pm followed by presentations at 7:30pm

Dinner $20pp (RSVP for meals by Wednesday 27 August)
