We have had bare st st wire (slightly larger diam to NZYF regs) for quite a while now to replace the previous plastic tube covered wire and despite my earlier misgivings re feel have found it to be no problem and when going forward I always run my hand along the wire for stability. I would definitely use it again as there are practically no corrosion issues. Speaking of corrosion when we tied up in Westport earlier in the year we noticed rust stains running down the gunwhale at every stanchion. I suspected it was an electrical leak and sure enough after some testing we found the sternlight wiring on the pushpit was earthing out - lucky we spotted it before any real damage. Cutter and car polish solved the staining problem.
