Hi All,

Thought I'd do a quick update on where we got to the other day.

We had a good turnout of people with expressions of Interest that should provide a good basis for a good event.

As with all things now we really need to continue working on the owners of boats out there and encourage them to take part, or perhaps loan or lease their boat to a skipper and crew.

Basis for a fair handicapping system is still a bit up in the air- however main points for the system will be:

* Boats to be in original 1/4 ton rule trim

- This means no masthead kites for boats that may have them now, but didn't originally rate with them (ie Smokey Joe can't run Masthead).

* Number of crew for the Long legs being comprised of the 2 handed 3 legged series.

- Some concern was expressed that does that make for a fair representation. Not many of those there wanted to share the boats accom with more than two....but a fair point raised. This part of the series would only comprise 1 point of the overall series.

It looks like many of us are going to need to get measure ups to get certs for one or other of the ratings.

John Bennet is going to do some more research and come back with the best/fairest way to proceed with this without costing a fortune.

John is going to assemble a mailing list for follow ups of all those interested.

If anyone does want to register interest, please contact john/aka quarterback.

Additionally Leigh Miller is going to seek supprt from the 727 Association for the event.

Anatole Perry (me) is going to raise and discuss event support from the Upto26 Club.

The Cup is a goodie, and has been won by some famous boats.

Most notable Smokey Joe  (free plug!)

I'd love to see some of the old results from some of these series, and or hear what the drama's were that brought about various results.

There is a fantastic History Scrapbook the the PYBC has from the 1980 Worlds that was facinating to see and have a quick read through.

It would be fantastic to hear some stories or recollections from some of the teams that competed.

Anyway- that's my report from Sunday- there should be plenty of more noise going ahead.

Cheers,

Toles.
