Guest 000
On the canal boat we have 10 fenders and even so, barely enough. The Keeper of the Purse liked the look of those fender clips to make her fender adjusting job in the locks easier, but not the price. So she designed her own based on the materials available, ease of use and zero cost. I had an old plastic hatch which I cut up and made the shape with a hot air gun to suit the top rail diameter. It is loose enough to slide up and down the rail but requires to be pushed on as the throat of the clip is a little narrower than the rail which hopefully will prevent it from coming adrift. Threading the rope through the holes will hold the fender in place, more or less. It starts to slip at a 12kg pull. Taking the bitter end through the loop locks it up tight. It is easy to adjust the fender line one handed and I expect her idea will work ok, but it's a work in progress.
