The Tracker 7.7 Association is holding its open day this year this Sunday (28 November) at 10.30am – 2.30pm, at X Pier, Westhaven Marina.

The Tracker 7.7 is a small cruiser/racer keelboat designed by Alan Wright in 1974. It is a safe and easily handled yacht with a well balanced hull which makes it an ideal first yacht for a couple or small family. Around 200 Trackers were built between 1975 and 1986. Most of these are fibreglass, although there are some wooden boats about. The rig is masthead, with large overlapping genoa. Auxiliary power is either diesel inboard or petrol outboard in the 8-10 hp range.

The Tracker 7.7 Association is an active association with over 50 members around New Zealand. Members meet regularly for cruising and racing events, plus monthly winter dinners / informational evenings. The Association publishes a yearbook and monthly newsletters for its members. The class also has a number of boats engaged in an active racing programme.

The Tracker 7.7 Open Day is held every year to show Aucklanders the class and to speak with people who may be interested in joining the fleet and pursuing a very affordable way of cruising, racing, socialising and enjoying the harbour and the Gulf. There will be a free sausage sizzle and coffee.

Yachts will be open to the public to board for viewing, information packs will be available and any questions can be answered by friendly boat owners.
