R class foiling

they certainly do, upwind we would be 50% quicker and slightly more height. Downwind, the same but lower by 10 degrees. The foilers are definitely the way forward. We are looking at rig development, ie wing rigs next as the platform is now extremely stable compared to non foiler boats(except as witnessed in the crashes).

The most pleasing is the fact that older hulls are now competitive again, so no need for a big building programme, but just need to get hold of some older boats and update.

Also, all the guys that have put foils on say that they don't want to go back to conventional again, a real buzzzzzzzz

Easier in terms of stability, but much harder in terms of keeping in groove. You also need full concentration at all times because of speed and very touchy on helm. Going back to conventional is a bit of a let down.
