Reefrite 280 Boom & Gooseneck

Recommended Posts

I’m getting the rigging replaced on my Chico 40 and have agreed with the rigger that I’ll remove the boom for a headstart on the job. I’ve got a reefrite 280 boom furler and I can’t get the main bolt out of the gooseneck, ergo can’t get the boom off 😖

Has anyone got any experience with these booms? My best guess is that the bolt has bent within the gooseneck somehow, as no amount of force is getting it to budge upwards. So then I guess the next option is to cut it, which I really don’t want to do.

Am I missing some trick or something obvious?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Two thoughts . CorrosionX saved my bacon with a rigging job.  saturate it with that.

The reefrite company still trades in Kerikeri, you could ring them, see if there's some hidden grub screw etc.
