Friday - Day 1

Day one was a very trying day for competitors and Race officials as the wind has come, then gone, come again from the opposite direction and so on and so on.

However 5 races were completed with the boats finially arriving back at the dock at 5.30. Nearly a full days work for all of them.

Alastair Gair and his team have come out on top but with only a one point lead over Will Tiller. Some of the fancied crews came unstuck in race three recording premature starts.

Saturday’s race starts are likely to be postponed to at least lunch time start due to light winds.

Day 2

Racing was postponed until after lunch due to a substantial lack of power to propel the boat through the water. Racing got under way at 2pm with three more races completed. Matt Steven won the first two and was on fire. He went hard right in the first race and had a blinder and then in the second race he went hard left and had another blinder. You will have to ask Matt what happened in race three but he didnt win that one.The two leaders overnight had another consistent day with the overall lead held by Alastair Gair still only one pointfrom Will Tiller.

Third place is a distance back with the rest of the fleet struggling to keep up with the leaders consistency/ Another day of light winds is expected on Sunday when four races are scheduled.

Day 3

With a late start due to light wind, the crews finally went out at about 10.30 am. In the first race Alastair Gair took a huge lead due to shifting wind. In the other races the boats were all very close together. The wind picked up further until 12 to 15 knots at the end of the day. Everyone did really well with the wind picking up, no damage at all, except for a couple Chinese gybes. Phil Robertson had a very unfortunate last race when the spinnaker didn't come down and lost important time in his race to take over the 3rd place in the series. It was a beautiful day racing which shows in the result.

We can conclude that we had a great Keelboat National Championship in 2011.
